A Chevy Celebration

August 21st, 2015 by

For the fifth time, Chevy has just sponsored the Woodward Dream Cruise, which is the world’s largest one-day event for car enthusiasts from around the world.

On average, the Woodward Dream Cruise brings in more than 1.5 million car lovers to a 16-mile stretch of the historic Woodward Avenue in Southern Michigan.

Once there, attendees can scope out more than 40,000 vehicles, from muscle cars, custom designs, and rare collector’s items.

Naturally, as its primary sponsor, Chevy used the opportunity to showcase some of its own creations for the upcoming model year, which you’ll be able to scope out soon enough at your local Chevrolet Lexington KY dealership.

Chevy Champions the Woodward Dream Cruise

It’s hard to believe that this incredible automotive event is free to those who want to participate in the event by cruising their cherished cars down Woodward Avenue, or for those who simply want to attend as spectators and appreciators of all things automobile.

But maybe it shouldn’t be a surprise considering that the Dream Cruise was created as a fundraising initiative back in 1995. What began as an effort to raise funds for a soccer field quickly grew into the biggest single-day automotive event anywhere in the world.

This year, Chevy was excited to showcase the upcoming Chevy Volt, approaching its second-generation and rumored to boast a forty percent improvement over the current model. That means the 2016 Chevy Volt will be able to get 53 miles strictly on EV range, according to testing done by the EPA.

In addition to the 2016 Chevy Volt, Wood Dream Cruise attendees were also treated to the all-new 2016 Chevy Camaro coupe and convertible as part of the Chevrolet Performance Display.

Whether in coupe or convertible form, the Chevy Camaro is a blaze of muscle car glory. Equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, the Camaro burns rubber backed by 335 horses, while the 6.2-liter V8 runs with a larger and more powerful herd, rated at 455.

Able to crush the zero to sixty mph sprint in 4.5 seconds, the new Camaro reaches top speeds of 156 mph, and maintains its competitive pricing at the base MSRP of $24,700.

Not forgetting its iconic and storied past, Chevy also treated participants to views of the coupe and convertible models of the 1955 Bel Air, as part of the car’s 60th anniversary celebration.
