The Redesigned 2027 Silverado 1500

2027 Silverado 1500

For their 2027 lineup, Chevrolet has redesigned a classic; the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has received a complete overhaul. While we don’t have all of the specifics yet, here is what we know so far.

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will have a redesigned exterior including changes such as a wider more upright grill, redesigned mirrors and wheels, and an updated bumper design. Inside the cab the center touchscreen has gotten larger with the center touch screens now 16.3 inches standard across the lineup, and a panoramic sunroof will be offered for the first time ever on a Silverado (standard on select trims). There have also been updates under the hood including updates to the 2.7 L TurboMax, new 5.7L and a 6.6L V8s, and a 10-speed automatic transmission with every engine. There have also been performance and technology upgrades, including supercruise expanding to more trim levels and updates that allow for hands-free trailering. The trim levels have also been updated with the classic “LT” trim being renamed to the “Silverado” trim, and the RST and LTZ trims being retired. The new trim lineup for 2027 consists of the Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado (formerly LT), Trail Boss, ZR2, and High Country.

* As of the date of publication Chevrolet has not released official horsepower, towing capacity, payload, torque, fuel economy, or pricing.

A Redesigned Exterior –

  • The front end has been completely redesigned with a larger, more upright grille and a more squared-off appearance.

  • Redesigned LED headlights with updated daytime running lights.

  • The rear taillights have been slimmed down and a new 3-foot third brake light has been integrated into the rear cab.

  • A more sculpted hood and more pronounced front fenders create a more planted and muscular look.

  • New wheel designs for all trim levels.

  • The Multi-Flex tailgate option remains with updated trim specific styling.

  • New paint colors and trim-specific appearance packages will be available.

In 2027, Chevrolet is giving the Silverado 1500 its most substantial exterior redesign in years. While the iconic truck will retain its distinctive Silverado appearance, there will be many significant changes designed to catch the eye.

The most noticeable changes will be to the front end with the 2027 model having a more upright grille and blockier appearance. This combined with a more sculpted hood and broader front fenders creates a more planted and muscular look than previous generations. The truck’s LED headlights have also been redesigned with daytime thin running lights now sitting near the top of the front end while the main headlights are positioned lower in the fascia.

At the rear, Chevrolet slimmed down the LED taillights and added a 3-foot LED third brake light directly into the rear cab. The Multi-Flex tailgate option will remain, featuring updated exterior accents to match each specific trim.

Every trim level will receive brand-new wheel designs (sizes available up to 22 inches depending on trim level) and updated paint colors. Chevrolet has dialed back on chrome for most of the lineup of this generation of SIlverados, opting for body-color, dark, or satin finishes to create a more modern look. Below are the specific changes to the appearance packages for the 2027 lineup compared to the 2026 offerings.

  • Work Truck (WT): updated to include standard full-LED headlight signatures and the new squared-off front grille design

  • Custom: now comes standard with dual exhaust outlets integrated into the rear bumper along with new 20-inch Technical Gray wheels

  • Custom Trail Boss: updated styling accents around the 2-inch factory lift, the new 2027 front fascia, wider front fender lines, and updated 34-inch MT wheel/tire packaging

  • Silverado (formerly LT): on 4WD models, the Z71 Off-Road appearance package is now included as standard equipment rather than an optional add-on

  • Trail Boss: updated black off-road hood insert, revised high-clearance front/rear bumpers, and new trim-specific exterior badging paired with the redesigned LED light signatures

  • High Country: swaps out traditional bright chrome for an exclusive Tritan Satin grille finish, modern black badging, and new 22-inch After Midnight wheels (also introduces a panoramic sunroof as standard equipment—a first for any Silverado generation)

  • ZR2: upgrades to factory 35-inch MT tires, new forged carbon-fiber exterior trim accents, and an updated high-approach front bumper design

Inside the Cab –

  • The Center Touchscreen has been upgraded to 16.3 inches across all trims.

  • The Digital Driver Display has also grown to 12.2 inches across all trims.

  • The dashboard layout has been updated to a more horizontal appearance along with the center stack being reorganized to create a more integrated appearance.

  • On ZR2 and High Country trims an 11.5 inch passenger screen has been added.

  • Every trim will have an upgraded appearance, with higher quality materials used throughout.

  • The High Country trim level will now come with a panoramic sunroof, and the feature is available on the ZR2, Trail Boss, and Silverado trims.

  • More distinctive features will be added to the different trim levels, making each feel more unique.

For 2027 the interior of the Silverado is receiving a significant upgrade, maintaining the practicality truck owners have come to expect from the brand, while also adding a more modern and upscale feel. Larger infotainment and driver displays add a contemporary touch, while the redesigned center stack keeps key functions linked to physical controls.

The ZR2 and High Country trim levels add an additional 11.5 inch passenger screen, upping their total screen area to over 60 inches. The display is designed to remain intentionally non-visible to the driver, allowing for passenger entertainment without creating further distraction to the driver.

For the first time ever a panoramic sunroof is being added to the Silverado, with the feature coming standard on the High Country trim level, and available to be added on the ZR2, Trail Boss, and Silverado trims. While every trim receives upgraded materials throughout, premium models include trim specific upgrades such as Torch Red accents and  forged carbon trim in the ZR2, red seatbelt accents and unique seat perforations on the Trail Boss, and real wood and exclusive console detailing on the High Country.

Under the Hood –

  • For 2027 the 5.3L and 6.2L V8s are being retired and replaced with new 5.7L and a 6.6L V8s.

  • A 10-speed transmission will now be standard across all engines.

  • The 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel will continue to be the only diesel option in the lineup.

  • Chevrolet has not yet released the Horsepower, Torque, or Towing capacity specifications for the 2027 Silverado.

One of the most headline inducing changes in the 2027 Silverado is Chevrolet’s move from the iconic 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines to naturally aspirated 5.7L and a 6.6L V8s. These new V8s are further improved by a new 10-speed automatic transmission that will now be standard across all engines. These changes are in an effort to deliver improved performance and towing capacity. Though Chevrolet has not yet released official horsepower, towing capacity, or torque specifications as of time of publication, the towing capacity is expected to exceed the 13,300lbs limit of previous generations.

Outside of the major changes to the V8 options, the base 2.7L TurboMax will also come standard with the 10-speed automatic transmission. This change is expected to give the entry trims smoother shifts and better power delivery. The 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel will continue to be the only diesel option in the lineup; now with more accessibility. For the first time the 3.0L Duramax Diesel will be available on the Work Truck Trim allowing budget-conscious shoppers to get the advantages of the DuraMax. The 3.0L Duramax Diesel will also receive the new 10-speed automatic transmission.

Performance and Technology Upgrades –

  • The new trim lineup for 2027 consists of the Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado (formerly LT), Trail Boss, ZR2, and High Country.

  • The “LT” trim has been renamed to the “Silverado” trim, and the RST and LTZ trims will be retired.

  • When customers select 4WD the Z71 off-road package will now automatically be included.

  • SuperCruise will now be expanding to more of the seven trims and will include hands-free trailering abilities.

A big change for the 2027 Silverado lineup is the consolidation of the various trims from nine levels down to seven. The classic “LT” trim will become the “Silverado” trim, and the RST and LTZ trims will be retired. This leaves the new trim lineup for 2027 consisting of the:

  • Work Truck

  • Custom

  • Custom Trail Boss

  • Silverado (formerly LT)

  • Trail Boss

  • ZR2

  • High Country

Chevrolet streamlined the lineup in an effort to eliminate redundant trims and standardize core technology across all models. Previously, various tech features were used to differentiate the different mid-tier trim levels, but with the 16.3-inch touchscreen and 12.2-inch digital driver display now being standard across all trim levels those mid-tier trims can be consolidated. This also allows for the off-road lineup to be simplified into three distinct, clearly tiered options; the Custom Trail Boss for entry-level off-road value, the Trail Boss for mid-tier performance & comfort, and the ZR2 as the flagship for extreme off-road capabilities.

For 2027 the Z71 off-road package will now automatically be included when buyers opt for 4WD. This change means every 4WD Silverado rolling off the line comes factory-ready for rugged terrain and unpredictable weather without requiring buyers to step up in trim levels or add standalone option packages. Key upgrades that will now be built into the 4WD setup include off-road suspension tuning, underbody skid plates, hill descent control, and all terrain tires and badging. This change ensures that buyers prioritizing wet-weather traction, winter driving, and off-road capability get a complete, trail-tested package built right into the base price of four-wheel drive.

The award-winning SuperCruise will become more accessible in 2027 with the feature now becoming standard on the High Country and ZR2 models. With the nine 2026 trims being consolidated down to seven for 2027 it will now also be easier for mid-tier buyers to add hands-free trailering with SuperCruise now available on the Silverado (formerly LT) and Trail Boss models.
