The Most Exciting Special Edition Chevy Pickups for 2016

While some drivers prefer to blend in with other vehicles on the road, there are those who choose to stand out in every way imaginable. There is something weirdly powerful that comes with driving a unique or custom vehicle that grabs the attention of other motorists. Whether it’s a friendly honk, a wave, or a gawking stare, getting recognized for how awesome your vehicle is can be exhilarating. Why drive a mundane vehicle when you can stand out in a jaw dropping pickup truck? With so many Chevy trucks for sale these days, we thought we would highlight some of the most unique special edition Chevy pickups that are available for purchase in 2016. Special Editions: A Chevrolet Tradition Chevrolet has been working with aftermarket automotive companies, designers, and engineers to create custom pickup trucks that their customers will love. Some of these special edition pickups were limited to appearance upgrades only, while others were outfitted with performance and capability enhancements. Chevrolet is an automotive brand that likes to keep things fresh, which is one of the reasons we love them so much. To keep up with the unique demands of truck drivers, the bowtie brand releases a few special edition versions of their pickups each year. These stand out from other trim levels, in that they are usually only offered in limited production. Once these special edition pickup trucks sell out, they are out of production indefinitely. Owning one of these Chevy pickups not only guarantees that you will stick out on your daily commute, but that you are a part of Chevrolet history - and who doesn’t want to own a little piece of history? New for 2016: Silverado Special Ops Edition & Silverado Realtree Edition Chevrolet made two very important announcements in recent months regarding their lineup of exclusive special edition Silverado pickup trucks. Back in December the bowtie brand unveiled their Special Ops Edition of the Silverado, and announced the Silverado Realtree Edition at the end of January. Both trucks are unique in their own right, and each appeals to a different set of truck drivers. Discover what each of these special edition Silverado trucks entails, by exploring below: 2016 Silverado Special Ops Edition: At the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Special Ops Silverado was one of the stand outs, and a definite crowd favorite. With such a positive reception of the Special Ops Edition, Chevrolet made the decision to put the model into production as a limited release. The truck is based on the Silverado Z71 off-road package, and adds plenty of performance and mechanical upgrades to ensure absolute uniqueness. Exterior Appearance: The Special Ops Edition of the Silverado was designed as the name implies - as a vehicle for special operations forces. The exterior paint job features a camo design inspired by the Navy, called Razzle Dazzle. It is a three tone blue paint color, with varying colored lines and shapes that accentuate the camo appearance. A bed mounted sport bar features LED lights, while custom rocker guards and a GearOn utility rack storage system is also mounted in the rear bed of the truck. The unique front grille is body colored, and includes six-inch LED light strips across the top length of the grille. Large off-road tires tie the exterior look together, while adding a level of utility to the truck. Interior Enhancement: The military theme that is prevalent on the exterior of the Silverado Special Ops Edition carries through into the interior cabin of the truck. Bright Ejector Orange color accents are used on the glove box handle, as well as the door pulls. The interior seating features waterproof covers, while the floor continues that theme to include waterproof floor liners. The armrests as well as the instrument panel feature the same Razzle Dazzle paint job that the exterior of the truck wears. Mechanical Upgrades: To add a bit of performance to the Special Ops Edition of the Silverado, Chevrolet has included a new brake package, and exhaust and air intake kits. 2016 Silverado Realtree Edition: If you are an avid outdoor enthusiast, or have ever enjoyed the sport of hunting, then you have likely heard of Realtree. The company known as the world’s leading camouflage brand has teamed up with Chevrolet to design a Silverado unlike any other on the road. The 2016 Silverado Realtree Edition is based on the Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 crew cab model, and was unveiled in Las Vegas late January.  Already dubbed THE truck for the outdoor lover, the Silverado Realtree Edition is as unique as it is capable. Check it out below: Exterior Appearance: The exterior of the Realtree Edition is completely blacked out. The sleek paint job, bowtie emblems, side steps, wheels, and logos, are all completely blacked out. Off-road assist steps and 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires round out the rugged exterior look, along with Realtree camo graphics on the hood, tailgate, and front doors. Interior Enhancements: The interior of the Realtree Edition of the Silverado features the Realtree logo embroidered on the headrests of the front seats, as well as on the instrument cluster. A wireless charging station comes standard, as well as Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system. Mechanical Upgrades: Included on the Silverado Realtree Edition is the Z71 off-road package which features Rancho monotube shocks, an underbody shield, Hill Descent Control, and the G80 auto locking rear differential. Essentially, this truck has you covered wherever your outdoor adventure takes you. 2016 Colorado Special Editions The 2016 Chevy Colorado is offered in two different special editions - the Z71 Trail Boss, and the Midnight Edition. Discover each of these special edition Chevy Colorado trucks by exploring below: 2016 Colorado Z71 Trail Boss: As the name implies, this truck is designed for off-road adventure. The second year this version of the Colorado has been offered, the Trail Boss includes even more functionality for 2016. A new sport bar with LED trail lighting is mounted to the bed of the truck, while 17-inch black painted wheels and all-terrain tires ensure you can reach your destination regardless of where it is. Round rocker steps, a spray-on bedliner, black fender flares, and all weather mats with the Z71 logo, complete the special edition Trail Boss of the Colorado. 2016 Colorado Midnight Edition: This version of the 2016 Chevy Colorado is certainly unique, and will definitely have heads turning on the highway. Draped in all black, the Midnight Edition includes a soft folding Tonneau cover, 18-inch black wheels, a spray-on bedliner, a black grille, black Chevy emblems, a black exterior paint job, and Chevy door sill plates. This Colorado truck gives the midsize pickup some serious street cred, and will keep you sitting in the lap of luxury no matter where you go. 3 Important Things to Look for When Buying a Used Chevy Truck

There are a lot of used Chevy trucks for sale out there. Whether they are in a dealer’s lot or on the side of the road, they still should be inspected. Even if it isn’t a truck, you shouldn't just blindly buy a used vehicle. The dealers will be more than happy to answer your questions, and if you end up irritating a private seller by asking a questions; chances are it’s because they don’t have a proper answer. Therefore, on top of asking questions about the used truck you want to buy, it’s also important to inspect it. It doesn’t need to be the thorough investigation. After all, it’s a used truck, so chance are you just need it to get you from point A to point B reliably and safely. With that being said, here’s three important things to look for when trying to find that perfect used Chevy truck. If you see any of these things, they are warning signs that the truck is either the end of it’s life-span, or it will be extremely expensive to keep it alive. Is There any Rust? On used used trucks, there is almost always bound to be rust. It might happen more so in the North as opposed to the South — because of roads being treated regularly with salt in the winter — but that doesn’t mean the cars down here are exempt from getting rusty. Anyway, a little surface rust underneath the frame is okay, and expected, on a used Chevy truck. However, if it gets to the point where the rust has eaten a hole away in the body/undercarriage, then don’t think twice about leaving that truck behind. Why? Because at that point, there is no saving the truck. If it has that much rust, it can only get worse. If the rust is that bad on a truck, there is no saving it. Therefore, this should be the first thing you look for. Look for really bad rust on the quarter panels and on the sides of the truck by the running boards (or if there aren’t any running boards, then look where they would be). If the rust has eaten through the body there, this is an indicator that underneath the truck is going to be in even worse shape. Inspect the Engine This should be self explanatory, but you need to check the engine. If you ask to start the truck up and the owner says no, leave it alone. Chances are, there’s something wrong with the engine, and that’s why they don’t want you to start it up. First, do a visual check. Look around the engine/the block and see if it’s wet. This, along with the sign of built-up grimy debris, means that there could be an oil/other fluid leak somewhere, and that it wasn’t well cared for. Along with looking at the engine while the truck is off, it’s also important to visually check it when it’s running. After you turn it on, let it idle and warm up a bit. There should be absolutely no smoke coming from the engine, and if there is, that’s the sign of an oil leak. Furthermore, you need to listen for any strange noises such as rapping, knocking, or clanking; these all indicate a much more serious issue. After inspecting for rust, you need to check out the engine. Ignore the lift-kit and cool paint job — or whatever else might appeal to you — and inspect the engine thoroughly. If you don’t or buy the vehicle anyway, then chances are you will be paying for repairs that are more expensive than the price you paid for the truck. Mileage Finally, check the mileage when you get inside to start the truck up. The mileage on a truck, especially a used one, is important. Even if you have checked the engine and body for rust and they look okay, but the mileage is sitting at 250,000, then walk away. At that point, it becomes a better safe than sorry situation. If it was well taken care of over it’s lifetime, you probably don’t have anything to worry about. However, unless you really know what you are looking for there is no way for you to have that guarantee. These are the 3 of the more important things to look for when buying a used Chevy truck, and you need to make sure that you inspect these. If not, chances are you will be sending your used truck to the shop within the first year of owning it; or looking for another truck.

Safest Used Cars for Teens Under $10,000

Having a new teenage driver in your house can be stressful. Constantly worrying about where they are, what they are doing, who they are with - the list goes on and on. One thing that you shouldn’t have to worry about, is if the car they are driving is reliable and safe. Adding a teenage driver to your insurance is costly, and if sharing your family car with them isn’t not a feasible option, then making a new car purchase can also set you back financially. A common misconception is that older cars are not as safe as new vehicles. While new safety technology is being introduced constantly, there are plenty of safe options for affordable used cars in Lexington, KY. No parent should ever have to choose between the safety of their teenage driver, and money. It is possible to find a used car that is both safe and affordable. Thanks to safety institutions and other resources, there is a lot of information available on this very subject. We have taken the time to sift through piles of data to narrow down this extensive field to ten of the safest cars for teenagers under $10,000. Vehicle Safety Must-Haves Before we get to the specific makes and models, let’s take a look at some important safety factors to take into consideration when buying a used car for your teen. Electronic Stability Control: This technology was first invented back in 1983, but has recently been incorporated into a vast majority of automobiles. It is considered one of the most important vehicle safety advancements since the seatbelt, and helps the driver stay in control of the vehicle in the event that traction is lost, or skidding takes place. Automatic braking is applied to individual wheels, which helps the vehicle stay in control. Good Overall Safety Scores: Especially in emergency maneuver tests, the car you choose for your teen driver should have a good stopping distance, and be able to quickly get around a potential hazard on the road. Size and Weight: This is an important factor to consider when choosing a vehicle for your teen driver. Larger vehicles such as SUVs have a higher center of gravity, and can tip more easily than a sedan or coupe. Hands Free Connectivity: Regardless of how many times you remind them not to text or talk while driving, teenagers inevitably pick up the phone while behind the wheel. Finding a used vehicle with Bluetooth connectivity will help reduce distraction, allowing your teen to keep their hands on the wheel, and eyes on the road when the phone rings. 10 Safest Used Cars Under $10,000 2009-2012 Chevy Malibu: This four door sedan used typically starts right around $8,000, and is comfortable, quiet, and safe. The steering wheel and foot pedals can be adjusted to the correct height for your teen driver, with plenty of room for those upcoming growth spurts. The Malibu has responsive handling, and gets a combined rating of 25 miles per gallon. 2009-2011 Ford Focus: This smaller sedan starts used around $6,000, and despite being classified as a compact car, features plenty of interior cabin space. If you find a used version with Ford’s SYNC technology, your teen can talk on the phone hands free, as well as control their music, send text messages, and receive turn-by-turn directions. 2009-2014 Volkswagen Rabbit/Golf: Both the Golf and Rabbit have been best-selling cars around the world for plenty of years, making the a great choice for your teen. You can expect to pay around $7,000 for this car used, and the hatchback rear trunk gives it a roomier feel than other cars in the same segment. 2010-2011 Kia Soul: This uniquely boxy crossover is fun to drive, and has plenty of safety features standard. The used Soul comes in around $8,000, and the impressive EPA-estimated fuel economy will help with continued savings down the road. Kia’s UVO connection system allows for hands-free connectivity with a smart phone, keeping your teenage driver’s eyes on the road. 2006-2014 Hyundai Sonata: The midsize Sonata brings an element of luxury to our list, with a soft and quiet ride, comfortable interior, and plenty of room for passengers. You can expect to pay around $5,000 for the Sonata used, which makes it one of the most affordable on our list. A combined fuel economy of 27 miles per gallon is impressive, as well as its responsive handling. 2010-2012 Ford Fusion: This used sedan starts around $8,000, and features a larger body than the smaller Focus. Ford’s SYNC system can be found on some used versions of this car, which allow for hands-free connectivity on the road. SYNC also gives drivers a vehicle history report, and will automatically dial 911 when a collision occurs in which the airbags are deployed. 2011-2013 Mazda3 i: This used sedan tops our list as far as price, which is expected to be right under the $10,000 mark. Known for its safety, reliability, and powerful engine, the Mazda3 is spacious, and fun to drive. Finding a used model with extra amenities like leather seating, heated seats, and a navigation system should be easy. 2004-2012 Toyota RAV4: This used compact crossover starts around $7,000, and has the extra space for your teen’s unique hobbies. With the back seats folded down, the RAV4 can haul some serious cargo, which makes it even more appealing. Bluetooth hands-free connectivity became available on the RAV4 starting with the 2006 model year. 2009-2010 Volkswagen Jetta: This small, yet sporty sedan has great handling, and a smooth ride. Starting used around $7,000, the Jetta features intuitive controls, a spacious trunk, and a more luxurious interior than others on our list. The Jetta is well known for its reliability and quality. 2009-2013 Mazda6 i: You can expect to pay right around $8,000 for this sedan used. The Mazda6 i features exceptionally responsive steering, a four-cylinder engine, and a telescoping steering wheel. 3 Used Cars That Get Over 30 MPG

For Lexington, KY used cars are a valid option, and there are plenty of them out there. Not just on the side of the road, but in used dealer lots as well. With the price of fuel now and days, consumers might think their best bet for savings in the long-run is to go with a new car. This is because the cars from 2016 have the best of the best fuel saving technology; but that’s where they are wrong. There are numerous used cars out there you can get for much cheaper than a new car, and still get the same type of fuel economy in 2016. That means you won’t have to shell out as much money now, and will save just as much in the future. As an example, here’s 3 used cars that get over 30 mpg, with prices based on Autotrader. Toyota Prius It shouldn’t be a surprise that a used Toyota Prius is a vehicle that can get over 30 mpg. Since it was first released, it was able to get close to that type of number. But for a used Prius that offers the best fuel economy, 2004-2008 are the years you want. The Toyota Prius is able to achieve 48 mpg city and 51 mpg highway, which are mind-boggling numbers even by today’s standards. Based on Autotrader, it’s possible to find a used 2004 or 2005 Prius for around $8,000 or less; depending on the condition. The 2004 model might be 12 years old now, but it still gets fuel-efficiency that makes some of the newer car models jealous. Like the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, which can only get 40 mpg city and 44 mpg highway; one of the most fuel-efficient hybrids on the market right now. Volkswagen Jetta TDI The Volkswagen Jetta TDI is powered by a diesel engine, which generally means better savings overtime. Diesel costs more than gas, but thanks to the engines they are typically much more fuel efficient than their gasoline-powered rivals. The Jetta TDI is no different, and it’s able to get up to 36 mpg city and 41 mpg highway. Just like the Prius, these are considered impressive numbers for a vehicle that’s 12 years old. On top of the stellar fuel economy, the 2005 or 2006 models can be found on Autotrader for around $9,000. Also, if you feel like you need a little more kick than a Prius; the diesel Jetta won’t disappoint you. Making this a used car that’s not only fuel-efficient, but also one that has get-up. Honda Civic A third used car that can get over 30 mpg is the infamous Honda Civic. Honda’s have always had a reputation for getting good fuel-efficiency, no matter what year they are from. The 2006 and 2007 models are able to achieve 30 mpg city and 38 mpg highway, and the hybrid models provide even more fuel-efficiency. The gas-powered models from early 2006 and 2007 are available for $8,500 or less, again based on Autotrader’s pricing. These are only three used cars that can get over 30 mpg, and even if the prices will vary depending on where you search, the fact they are still cheaper than a newer model and provide the same type of fuel-efficiency remains true.

The 3 Best Discontinued Car Brands

Great cars seem to come and go each year, but these days there are so few automakers that to see an entire brand shut down is usually a bit of a shocker - although not entirely uncommon, even nowadays. As you look out among the used cars in Lexington, KY, you might notice a few of these brands still poking out among the more recently built models - many of which owe their own design cues to these discontinued lines. Here are a few of the best auto brands that have folded over the past decade - the ones we miss the most, although that's not to say we'd be rushing out to buy any of them anytime soon. Hummer If you were a cognizant, conscious human being at any point in the early years of the 21st century, then you probably remember - and have an opinion on - the Hummer. This civilian-modified military vehicle line was notorious for only one thing more so than its enormous size: it's appetite for fuel. Owing a good part of its existence to actor and former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who saw the vehicles on a movie set and pushed for the development of a civilian model, the Hummer was always built to be big, roomy, and luxurious - from the massive H1 first edition to the more reasonable, smaller H3 model - at the cost of a pretty sore fuel economy. Boasting just 12 miles per gallon highway and nine miles per gallon city, this monster vehicle simply couldn't overcome the rising price of gas and, in the face of the Great Recession of 2008, the Hummer brand was forced to bow out by 2009, and the last model rolled off of GM's line in early 2010. Saturn Originally marketed as a "different kind of car company," the Saturn brand represented GM's desire to experiment with new kinds of vehicles and new concepts in vehicle design through the late 1980s and early '90s. Featuring smaller models focused on affordability and durability, the Saturn brand was GM's attempt to reach out to young consumers looking for a break from the usual auto market at this time. Boasting features like dent-resistant, easy-to-change side panels and a sturdy architecture, Saturn vehicles actually did make quite a splash on their original release. With the hit of the Recession of 2008, however, combined with a failed effort to consolidate and rebrand the Saturn line in 2010, GM decided to simply shutter the line by 2011. While Saturn remains an active part of GM's auto catalogue, no new Saturns have been produced for nearly five years. Pontiac If there's a brand that everybody expected to last the test of time, it was Pontiac. With its first car off the line in 1926, Pontiac would continue to produce powerful, stylish, and popular vehicles for the better part of the next eighty years. Boasting now-iconic models like the Firebird and the modern G6, Pontiac once dominated the luxury model market with a wide variety of excellent pony cars and luxury sedans. However, like many of its contemporaries, Pontiac was forced to shutter its doors under the weight of the 2008 Recession, and production ended in early 2010. To the delight of Pontiac lovers, however, several of the brands essential underpinnings and elements have appeared on other GM vehicles, like the Chevy Caprice. These are the three best, if now defunct, automakers that we remember from the last decade. With the big hit the auto industry took in 2008, it's sad to see so many great brands go south - but it's always fun to look back and remember them.

Remembering the Chevy Celebrity

Everyone dreams of being a celebrity, but have you ever thought of driving in a celebrity? That may have sounded a bit odd. We're referring to the Chevrolet Celebrity, a mid-size car that was available through much of the 1980s. While you may have never heard of the nameplate, the vehicle was actually a hit back in its heyday, actually leading all vehicles in United States sales in 1986. Let's take a step back in time and remember the Celebrity. Who knows, when you're finishing reading, you may be inclined to pursue the vehicle at a Kentucky Chevrolet dealer... more Despite only lasting for only one generation, the Chevy Celebrity saw several facelifts over its nine-year run, including revamps in 1984, 1986 and 1987. The vehicle initially made its debut as a smaller coupe, but the designation was eventually switched to mid-size coupe. A station wagon option was also available. The original Chevy Celebrity debuted in 1981 (as a 1982 model), but the name had previously been by used by General Motors as an option for a 1960s Oldsmobile sedan. The new Celebrity was based on the front-wheel drive A-body style previously featured in the Buick Century, Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, the Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser, and the Pontiac 6000. There were two engine options for the original Celebrity - a tech IV 2.5-liter TBI I4 and a powerful fuel-injected 2.8-liter V6 - and both were coupled with an automatic transmission. A five-speed manual transmission option was briefly offered, but it was eventually discarded. A 4.3-liter Diesel V6 was eventually included as an option, and the unit eventually gained praise from both critics and customers. The inclusion of full-wheel drive capabilities was perhaps the most important development for the vehicle, as the move allowed for significantly more interior space (especially when compared to the similar Malibu). As Jalopnik.com writes, there wasn't another vehicle that could offer "the room it gives you for the mileage it gives you at any price." At one point, the vehicle was capable of delivering a 24 city/39 highway mile per gallon fuel efficiency. Meanwhile, the 1986 and 1987 model proved to be the most popular in the nameplate's history, as the Celebrity was the best-selling car in the United States in 1986. There were several different versions of the Celebrity available during the nameplate's run. The Eurosport handling and appearance package offered Sports Rallye wheels, a black exterior and interior (with red accents and emblems), and a durable F41 suspension. The Celebrity CL included many of the same mechanic amenities, but it differed with a woodgrain dash, as well as plush seats and eye-catching diamond-spoke wheels. Other options included the Celebrity Classic (improved rear windows, mock convertible top) and Celebrity Estate (woodgrain siding). The coupe's run surprisingly ended in 1988, and the sedan ended production in the summer of 1989. The wagon, the final lasting member of the Celebrity nameplate, was retired in 1990 and replaced by the Lumina. This may seem like odd timing, as the vehicle was the country's best-selling vehicle only four years prior. It seems like the brand didn't put much stock into these sales, and Chevy was continually looking to replace the vehicle will improved, modernized options. This wasn't necessarily shortsighted, as several of the possible replacements (the Lumina and the Malibu) also proved to be big hits. Still, the Chevy Celebrity proved to be one of the brand's most beloved sedans, and it should be included on any list of vehicles that were "discontinued too soon." Luckily, you can still get your hands on a Chevy Celebrity. A used 1980s model shouldn't cost you more than $2,000!

Why the Down Payment is Crucial on a Bad Credit Car Loan

A down payment on a car is your ticket for easier payments during the term of your loan; and it’s even more important when it comes to bad credit car loans. Therefore, it’s crucial to put down the right amount. Regardless of bad credit or good credit, a down payment will help greatly. I understand it might be hard to make a bigger down payment if you are looking for financing with bad credit, but it’s important to put down one that’s higher than average; especially since that average is so low. Then again, buying a car isn’t and overnight process. Therefore, you should have a little time to tuck some extra cash away for a bigger down payment. What is it? The down payment is quite simply the amount of money you can put down on the car before financing. For example; this means if you put $5,200 down on a $26,000 car, you’ve reduced the price of the car by 20 percent. Now, instead of getting a loan of $26,000 for the car, you only need one to cover $20,800. Generally speaking, it reduces the amount of the loan required for the car you want to purchase. If you have bad credit, chances are you won’t be going after a $26,000 car. But, the principal is still the same. Why is it Important? First and foremost, it shows financial responsibility. If you walk into a bad credit car dealership with a fat wad of cash ready to slap down on a car, the dealer is more likely to give you financing. It shows you are financially responsible enough to save up the money for the down payment; which means chances are you’re responsible enough to pay off the loan they give you. Secondly, it allows you to offset the higher interest rate. For bad credit consumers, interest rates on a car loan can be anywhere between 14-20 percent depending on your state. Therefore, it’s important to pay off as much of the car as possible before getting a loan with that type of interest rate. It will make paying off the loan much more manageable in the long-run, because now there is a much smaller total to pay off. Finally, it allows you to have a shorter loan term. Long-term loans are the bane of consumers with good credit, and extremely detrimental for those with bad credit. Typically, you don’t want a loan to go for longer than 60 months. A bigger down payment can prevent that from happening. This is because the high interest rate tacked on will make paying off your car loan a costly endeavor. Putting down the largest amount of money possible is a good way to not only reduce your loan-term, but also the amount paid overtime. How Much Should I Put Down? Put down as much as you can afford. I’m not saying you need to pay off half the car now and the other half overtime, but 20-25 percent seemed to be the recommended amount long ago. In 2015, the recommended amount is only 10.4 percent; which is what’s causing the average loan to last more than 68 months. Which is why I said earlier it’s crucial to put down more than the average consumer, especially if you have bad credit. On a loan that long with bad credit, the interest rate will end up costing more than the car. Also, if you want to upgrade to a new car after your credit has improved, but you haven’t finished paying off your previous loan yet, it will carry over.

Bankruptcy

How To Get A Good Car Loan After A Bankruptcy

Declaring bankruptcy is no easy feat. While this social safety net is an invaluable resource for many debtors who find themselves in trouble, it can also carry long-term ramifications for your financial history. If you're not careful, bankruptcy could end up following you around for years afterward - but it doesn't have to. Securing financing for basic necessities - like a mortgage or bad credit car loans in Lexington, KY - can be much more challenging once you've declared bankruptcy. But, by following a few basic guidelines for getting your credit back on track you too will be able to resurrect your credit history and get back on your feet for good. Here are a few basic tips for re-orienting your finances after a bankruptcy, getting you back in the investment game and in good financial standing in no time. Consider A Bad Credit Car Loan To Rebuild Credit Ask any financial analyst or accountant and they'll tell you the same thing: the best way for a financial profile to recovery is by being active. That means that if you've faced bankruptcy and your credit rate has plummeted, the best (and only) way to bring it back is by being an active spender. Although some might react to a bankruptcy by limiting expenditures to only the bare necessities, this only encourages your credit score to stay in financial stasis rather than to get back on track towards recovery. One of the best ways to get back to being financially active after a bankruptcy is to take out a bad credit loan, like a bad credit auto loan, and pay it back diligently. These loans are directed at consumers with bad credit who maybe could not secure financing from any other dealer. While a borrower can expect to pay much higher interest rates on these loans, they are often the only option for those bad credit consumers looking to buy a vehicle on credit. By paying your bad credit auto loan back on time, in full, every month, you begin t prove to creditors once again that you can spend and carry debts responsibly - which could very likely help you secure a better loan in the future. Pay Off Your Lingering Debts Obviously, your credit score won't be budging at all if you still have old unpaid debts dragging it down. While declaring bankruptcy will likely allow you to walk away from many of your debts it will not eliminate all of them - like student debt and property liens, which need to be repaid before your credit can be truly recovered. Obviously, this isn't the easiest thing in the world to do, as you've probably landed yourself in a bad financial situation out of an inability to pay your debts. But Bankruptcy is designed to eliminate most of your remaining balances and allow you to reorganize your finances into a payment plan to settle your remaining accounts. This should take top priority for now, as eliminating this downward pull on your credit is vital to emerging from bankruptcy successfully. Get Proof Of Your Income One of the good things about using credit scores as a barometer of your borrowing habits is that they don't give the final word; that is, much of a lender's decision to give you a loan can also come from their own assessment of your borrowing habits. This means that you have a better chance to explain bad borrowing behaviors in the past and make your case for why you are a better borrower now. Having some official document of your monthly or weekly income won't raise your credit score but will definitely help work to convince a lender that you can repay loans within your budget. This proof can include your last pay stub or your W-2, which you can simply present with your loan application. For some lenders, this proof that you will have enough regular income to make your payments can be enough to convince them to approve your loan. Gather References A lender who is willing to hear your explanations for financial mistakes you've made in the past will also likely be looking for some indication that you have become a better borrower since then. Having proof of regular expenses or good credit references can work against some of the harm done by your bad credit score and could be enough to push your case to the approval stage. Having credit references from your utility company, your employer, your bank, or even a previous car dealer can go a really long way in convincing a lender that you have turned your behavior around since your bankruptcy and that you are fully capable of making responsible payments on time. A Secured Credit Card Can Help Another good option for the would-be borrower who's recovering from a bankruptcy is to take out a secured loan or a secured credit card. Having a loan "secured" basically means that you have backed up your loan with a deposit. This way, the lender can be sure they will not be losing money from the deal while you can be sure you'll have a reliable source of credit to build on. A secured credit card often comes with a credit limit equal to your initial deposit, usually no more than a few hundred dollars or so. As you use your card and pay back your balance, the lender will report this good behavior to credit reporting companies, which will in turn help raise your credit score. And, since there is little risk involved, this is a relatively easy way to get back on your feet quickly. Most banks and lenders will grant you a secured credit card as soon as six months after your bankruptcy, which means you can be back on the road to financial recovery within the year this way. And, since the card works on a deposit you give to the lender, you will actually make that money back - plus any interest it's earned - when you close the account. This means you will not only be helping your credit score to improve, but you may actually make a little bit of money doing so. Don't Lose Confidence In all reality the absolute most important thing you can do as a post-bankruptcy borrower is to keep your head cool and keep yourself focused on the goal of rebuilding your credit through active financial action. A disillusioned borrower who loses all hope of rebuilding credit after a bankruptcy is sure to do just that, since the only real way to pull yourself out of the depths of bad credit is with smart investing, responsible borrowing and an active financial profile. No lender is going to want to give a loan to a borrower who has already declared bankruptcy and who seems too tentative to get back in the game. This borrower looks like a risk for the lender and will likely be turned down for security's sake. By remaining fiscally active after a bankruptcy you not only inspire confidence in yourself as a good borrower but also give lenders a good reason to think your spending behavior has actually turned around. Nobody ever said that getting through a bankruptcy was easy; rather, it's one of the hardest things you can do financially, and arguably not enough people declare that probably should do so. It's understandable: the post-bankruptcy financial world can seem like a scary and unforgiving place. In reality, however, it's not so hard to get your credit back on track even after the worst, and by following these guidelines you too can get yourself back and borrowing before you know it.

Bad Credit Car Tips: Securing the Best Deal

Bad credit can certainly limit your ability to get a loan for a car. Some lenders won't even give you the time of day, while others may suggest a plan that isn't financially feasible. Luckily, there are still several ways you can secure that solid auto loan. Follow our guide below, and you won't have any issues when you visit bad credit auto dealers. As you're about to learn, many of these businesses need you as much as you need them... more Shoot for the Moon There's no reason to limit yourself to specific loans. We understand the logic: you're attempting to avoid the loans that are more financially beneficial because you assume you won't get approved due to your bad credit. However, BankRate.com says that that point of view may be a bit shortsighted. While your poor credit may have resulted in a subprime mortgage loan, that won't necessarily be the case for automobiles. Since these types of loans are often for less money and run for a shorter amount of time, you could potentially expect a "prime or near-prime" loan for your new car. Shop Around Similar to the advice above, you don't want to limit yourself to one or two lenders. Explore all of the opportunities, as you may unexpectedly come across a surprising, beneficial deal. Furthermore, Phil Reed, a consumer advice editor at Edmunds.com, told BankRate that some lenders may view your bad credit as a positive. "That's where it becomes more important to shop around," he said. However, on the flip side, you'll want to be wary of these lenders who only hand out loans to subprime customers. "Seeing places that are appealing specifically to subprime is a little bit of a warning flag," Reed noted. Where do you start? The experts suggest exploring your local options, like a bank or credit union. You'll have a better chance at a bank where you already have a checking account. Furthermore, BankRate.com suggests seeing if your employer or insurance companies will offer any automotive financing. Finally, the website recommends targeting businesses that are known for handing out auto loans (as opposed to those who cater to "low-credit clients"). Bring a Friend Consumer attorney Yvonne Rosmarin told BankRate.com that it's best to bring another person when you're shopping around for auto loans. There are two reasons for bringing along a partner. First, you can rely on this person as an "extra set of eyes and ears," and if they know anything about credit or loans, they can give you some unbiased insight. Furthermore, this person can help play a "role" during your negotiations. The website suggests having your friend act "unimpressed, dubious, or critical" of the loan, which may influence the lender to offer better rates. As we've outlined above, there are several ways to snag a beneficial car loan, even if you have bad credit. You certainly shouldn't limit yourself to only a couple of lenders, and you shouldn't be settling for anything less than the best possible deal (although, with bad credit, that's going to be difficult). Use our guide above, and you shouldn't have any issues securing the best possible payment plan.

How Chevy’s Electric Vehicles Continue to Evolve

Benefits of Electric Cars Contact Us Chevy continues to evolve their electric vehicles. It started with the innovative Bolt, and engineers are carrying over their vision to the upcoming Volt. In fact, the brand predicts that the upcoming electric vehicle will deliver some of the most impressive range specs we've ever seen. Before you head out to any Chevrolet dealers in Kentucky, see how the brand keeps evolving and refining their electric vehicles... more A 200-mile range is incredible, especially when it's an included spec in an affordable $30,000 car. As Michael Graham Richard of TreeHugger.com writes, many electric vehicle engineers have been aiming for this particular number, and Chevy has clearly established itself as the head of the pack. General Motors used the Chevy Volt as a template when they were designing their future Bolts. While electric ranges are usually inconsistent and somewhat unreliable, the Volt's engineers have assured that drivers can trust the Bolt's range. After all, the range spec will be based on a variety of factors, including "the time-of-day, topography, weather and the owner’s driving habits." Besides the range, the Bolt's engine is still a rather impressive unit. The electric motor can pump out 200 horsepower and 266 pounds-feet of torque, and when teamed up with the 7.05:1 final drive ratio, owners can expect a 0-to-60 time of fewer than seven seconds. Meanwhile, the 960-pound nickel-rich lithium-ion battery can hold 60 kWh of energy. These mechanics are accompanied by a 7.2 kW charger, allowing you to regularly charge your vehicle via a 240-volt wall box. Richard notes that owners can expect at least 50 miles from a two-hour charge, and when using the optional DC Fast Charging technology, you can expect 90 miles from only a 30-minute charge. “You usually have a battery cell that delivers either the desired levels of energy or power, but not traditionally both. With this cell design and chemistry we were able to deliver a battery system with 160 kilowatts of peak power and 60 kilowatts hours of energy,” said Gregory Smith, the group manager of Bolt EV battery pack engineering. It's not all about the engine, as the engineers have also revamped their vehicle's drivability to cater to the electric unit. Richard describes how many electric car drivers will end up relying on a single pedal, as "lifting your foot off the accelerator engages the regenerative braking which slows down the car without the need for brakes." The Bolt will embrace this type of driving strategy, as drivers can expect their electric vehicle to decelerate with a simple removal of the foot. "When operating the Bolt EV in “Low” mode, or by holding the Regen on Demand paddle located on the back of the steering wheel, the driver can bring the vehicle to a complete stop under most circumstances by simply lifting their foot off the accelerator, although the system does not relieve the need to use the brake pedal altogether," a press release (via Richards) said. The upcoming Volt will offer the most impressive range we've seen yet, as 200 miles is an extraordinary distance for an electric vehicle. As you've read, the engineers are confident that their car is going to deliver, and they've manipulated the Volt's mechanics to help welcome this change.
