Chevy Trax versus Buick Encore Paris, KY

How Do the Chevy Trax and Buick Encore Compare?

The Buick Encore and the Chevrolet Trax are similar vehicles. They both are part of the compact SUV segment and they both offer good handling and gas mileage. Here are some of the similarities and differences between the two vehicles. more Exterior Both the Encore and the Trax have an athletic look that is designed for good maneuverability in tighter city spaces. The Chevy Trax has a front grille with dual ports, while the Encore has a front fascia that is more sculpted. The Trax offers a more aggressive and sporty look with headlights that wrap around the fenders in the front, while the Encore's tri-color shield has a chrome strip that is more refined. It also has newly styled LED headlights and a lower air intake to make it look neater and tidier in the front. The back of the Trax also has a new look with dual taillights and a Premier trim with LED lighting. The Encore adds a spoiler on the top of the back tailgate to extend the roof and make it look longer. Interior For 2017, Buick upgraded the interior materials in the Encore. They added soft touch surfaces and blue ambient lighting for a luxury feel. It also has a new 8-inch color touch screen display that is compatible with both Apple and Android. The Trax was also updated for 2017 with a 7-inch color touchscreen display and a new look for the instrument panel. Both vehicles offer 4G LTE technology and they have a WiFi hotspot so you can stay connected where ever you go. Engine The engine in the 2017 Trax remains the same as the previous model. It has a 1.4-liter turbo engine that will get 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. It also comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission. 2017 Chevy Traverse Lexington, KY

The 2017 Chevrolet Traverse: Which Trim Is Best for You?

The 2017 Chevy Traverse is a midsize SUV that's the perfect size for a lot of families, but just because you've picked out the right vehicle doesn't mean you know which of its four trim levels is the perfect one for you. Each trim comes with a long list of options and features, so it can help to see a quick list of what each one has to offer. more LS The LS is the least expensive of the four trims, with an MSRP that starts at around $3000 less than the 1LT whether you prefer the front- or all-wheel drive. This makes it the obvious pick if you're budget-conscious. Plus, even with the lower price, the LS still comes with features like eight-passenger seating, a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio, and six months of the OnStar Guidance Plan. You'll also get basic features like the 3.6-liter engine, the 116.3 cubic feet of storage you can get with both back rows folded, and the maximum 5200-pound towing capacity that comes with the optional trailering package. 1LT The advantage of the 1LT trim is that it comes with the longest list of packages and optional features, which gives you the power to balance what you want from your vehicle with what your budget can manage. For instance, some of the optional features on the 1LT is the seven-passenger seating arrangement, which replaces the second-row bench with a pair of comfortable captain's chairs which still fold flat for easy cargo loading. Other options include the Chevrolet MyLink radio, a rear-seat entertainment system with 5.1 surround sound audio, and tri-zone automatic climate control. 2LT If the 1LT is a midsize SUV which lets you pick your toppings, the 2LT is the one with everything. It still doesn't come with the pure luxury features reserved for the Premier trim, but 2LT standard features include the seven-passenger seating, the MyLink radio, and a Bose-brand 10-speaker premium audio system that you won't find even as an option on the 1LT trim. The 2LT also comes with options of its own, like leather seats, and a side blind zone alert. Premier The Premier comes with a big jump in price but also a big jump in quality. Standard on the Premier is a Chevrolet MyLink system with integrated navigation, leather-appointed seats, and chrome accents on the exterior that let everyone know just how exclusive your vehicle really is. The Premier also comes with advanced safety features like the side blind zone alert, the forward collision alert, and the lane departure warning. However, some features are still optional since not all drivers could use them, such as the rear seat entertainment system and the Dual SkyScape sunroof. The 2017 Chevrolet Traverse has plenty to offer no matter which trim level you choose, but you can get a lot more bang for your buck by choosing the one that fits your budget and your needs. With the right trim and the right payment plan, you won't have any regrets in the years ahead.

Apply CarPlay Chevy Volt Lexington, KY

How to Connect Apple CarPlay to the 2017 Chevrolet Volt

As a plug-in hybrid, the 2017 Chevrolet Volt is the most tech-forward vehicle in Chevrolet's innovative lineup. The 2017 Volt's advanced technology means both trims come with an eight-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet MyLink and support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which allow your smartphone or tablet to communicate with your Volt and use the onboard systems to make calls, play music, navigate the streets, and use a number of other apps. Here's a quick guide on how to get Apple CarPlay to work with a new 2017 Volt: more Step 1: Set Up Your Phone For CarPlay to work, your iPhone has to have the right software and settings. Specifically, you'll need an iPhone 5 or later with at least iOS 7.1 installed, plus Siri should be turned on. Siri isn't essential to the connection, but she can help answer questions and guide you on the spot if you should have any questions. She also acts as the iPhone's voice command system so without her, you'll be limited to using the touchscreen to interact with CarPlay. Step 2: Plug In The Chevy Volt's center console has a USB port located conveniently close to where you can store your smartphone. By going wired, your Volt and your iPhone will have a solid connection that won't get interrupted by a failing battery. Step 3: Start CarPlay Assuming your Volt is on and MyLink is running, as soon as you plug in your iPhone you should see either the CarPlay homepage or a new app icon that will let you activate CarPlay. If that's not the case, try resetting both your phone and your car, and if that doesn't work then you should ask Siri what you need to do. If it connects without a hitch, you'll be able to talk to Siri through the Volt's voice command system and use her to interact with your iPhone apps, make calls, and dictate text messages. Step 4: Enjoy! The list of supported apps is growing every day, and already you can use CarPlay with essentials like Pandora, iHeartRadio, At Bat, and Audiobooks.com. With a Chevrolet vehicle, you won't have to worry about your data plan, either, since the available OnStar connection can act as a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, connecting up to seven devices at once. The 2017 Chevy Volt isn't your only option when it comes to using Apple CarPlay, and in fact, Chevrolet is leading the way when it comes to integrating CarPlay and Android Auto into all its newest vehicles. However, the Volt is one of the most efficient vehicles offered by Chevrolet or any other manufacturer, and the list of available and standard features goes far beyond compatibility with iPhones and Android phones.

2015 Chevys Lexington, KY

The 4 Best Chevrolet Vehicles of 2015

Chevrolet is a deeply established name in the automobile business, consistently putting out highly reviewed, long-lasting vehicles that serve a variety of drivers. If a brand-new model isn't what you're looking for, here are the top contenders among last year's lineup. more 2015 Colorado The Colorado was first released in 2012 in other countries, but made its United States debut in 2015, sporting several body features inspired by the full-size Silverado. As a slightly smaller cousin to the Silverado, the Colorado is a reliable and powerful truck for drivers who don't need the highest price and horsepower in Chevy's pickup selection. At base, the Colorado offers a 2.5-liter inline-4 with 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque, which is ideal for drivers who don't need a V-6. The option is there, however, with a 3.6-liter upgrade that generates 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Seek out 2015 models to get the most affordable version of this modern truck. 2015 Suburban All new for 2015, the Chevy Suburban was given significant updates over the 2014 model, like more assertive styling and the Silverado-based underpinnings. This hefty but graceful family wagon has a stronger frame and new options like adaptive shocks. Best of all is the interior quality, which looks richer and better designed. If the increasingly common compact SUVs out there don't hold your interest (or your family), the Suburban has the space you need for a camping trip, road trip, and daily commute. 2015 SS Getting away from the larger vehicles, the Chevy SS is a rear-wheel drive sports car in the middle price range, now much lower since it's no longer brand new. Sporty drivers can appreciate the feel of a manual transmission, and thankfully, the 2015 model received an optional six-speed stick shift, with almost no difference in price compared to the automatic. Despite being a sports car built for straightforward acceleration, the SS gets up to 15/21 city/highway fuel economy, and features magnetic suspension control for more stability on turns and curves. 2015 Impala If fuel economy is a priority, but hybrids aren't an option, last year's Impala may be just what you need. The full-size family car dropped the hybrid version in 2015, opting instead for a more efficient base gasoline engine that is compatible with natural gas fuels. The 2.5-liter inline-4 has better fuel economy than in 2014, while putting out an impressive 195 horsepower. With up to 18.8 cubic feet of cargo space and plenty of room in the front and back seats, Chevy defies the trend of compact and subcompact cars. The 2015 Impala proves that bigger cars can still be efficient, and use their greater size effectively. Though the entire 2015 Chevrolet lineup was terrific, these are four vehicles in particular that did something a little different. From slightly smaller trucks to still-large family cars, each experiment was a success in breaking the mold. If you're curious about offers and options on any of these 2015 vehicles, please contact us.

2016 Chevy Trax Lexington, KY

Safety Features of the 2016 Chevrolet Trax LS

The 2016 Chevrolet Trax LS earned an overall five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for its excellent frontal and side crash test results. The Chevy Trax is a critic and driver favorite for its many advanced safety features. Wondering which ones are especially beloved? Here are six safety features of the Trax LS. Standard Air Bags Each 2016 Chevrolet Trax LS comes standard with ten air bags. These air bags are optimally located at the frontal and knee area for driver and front seat passengers, and they are seat-mounted along the side for front and rear passengers, as well as roof rail mounted at the top. The air bags include a Passenger Sensing System that adjusts air bag inflation as needed during a crash for the passenger in the front seat. more Stabili Trak Electronic Stability Control Stabili Trak helps control vehicle stability, especially during emergency maneuvers. It operates using a control module that compares your steering with the vehicle's response, and it makes any necessary braking or engine torque changes. Whether your car fishtails on a slippery road, or you're forced to swerve to avoid an object, Stabili Trak automatically kicks in and applies braking power and engine adjustment where you need it most so you can regain control. Rear Park Assist and Rear Vision Camera Rear Park Assist delivers audible warning sounds when it senses that you're close to objects around you. For convenience, it automatically activates when you drive in reverse at low speeds. For more safety and security, the rear-vision camera provides a visual of what's behind you, so you can avoid hitting any objects and successfully reverse park every time. High Strength Steel Safety Cage The  Chevrolet Trax LS features a protective safety cage made of ultra-high-strength steel that protects you and your passengers while inside. In an accident, the cage acts as a barrier between you and the colliding object to reduce the risk of injury. OnStar with Automatic Crash Response Few safety features offer as much peace of mind as the Chevrolet Trax's OnStar with Automatic Crash Response does. It operates using built-in sensors that can predict the severity of an accident, and it automatically alerts an OnStar Advisor who can connect to your vehicle and decide if you need help. Regardless of whether you're able to answer or not, the OnStar Advisor will take action to make sure that you and your passengers get help as quickly as possible. Tire Pressure Monitoring System To avoid increased tire wear, tire blowout, and accidents, the Trax LS comes standard with an electronic tire pressure monitoring system. It works by monitoring the air pressure in each of your tires and notifies you if any of them are too low.  This way, you can fill up your tires and resume driving safely. From electronic stability control to automatic crash response communication, the 2016 Chevrolet Trax LS has a range of features that will keep you safe and secure on the road.

6 Songs That Pay Tribute to Chevrolet

Let's face it, Chevy is a household name. Chevrolet is such an iconic brand that many musicians have referenced the vehicles in their songs. If you've ever wondered which famous songs feature the word "Chevy" in their lyrics, we've written up a nice sampling for you: "American Pie" by Don McLean One of the most enigmatic songs of the 1970s, "American Pie" by folk rock singer Don McLean shot to number one for four weeks straight in 1972. It has remained a classic ever since, itself paying homage to the deaths of musical greats Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens. Chevy's place in the song is so prominent that it's in the chorus itself: "So bye-bye, Miss American Pie. Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry." more "Night Moves" by Bob Seger Bob Seger's "Night Moves" is a coming of age tale about adolescent love, based on the singer-songwriter's own teenage love affair. The song debuted in December 1976 and features the lyrics, "Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy, out in the back seat of my '60 Chevy." Like most songs from the '70s, it's a poignant reminder of iconic models that make us want to turn back the clock and relive the good times. "Ridin' in My Chevy" by Snoop Dogg While many songs feature Chevy in their lyrics, it's a rarity to have the brand mentioned in the title. Rapper Snoop Dogg's song "Ridin' in My Chevy" opens with the lyrics, "When I'm ridin' in my Chevy and I'm sittin' at the light, at the light." Being a Chevy fan never sounded more dope. "Chevy Ridin' High" by Rick Ross ft. Dre Okay, so maybe mentioning Chevy in a song title isn't that unusual a choice for rappers. Released in 2006 by artist Rick Ross and featuring Dre, "Chevy Ridin' High" pays direct tribute to Chevrolet vehicles like few songs ever have. The rap starts off with the repetitive, "Chevy ridin' high boy, Chevy ridin' high boy/Chevy ridin' high, bumpin' gangsta music," making anyone want to get in their car and turn up the audio. "Chattahoochee" by Alan Jackson If you think Chevy gets a lot of nods from rappers, country musicians tend to go a step further. Chevy trucks, in particular, have long been the subject of country song lyrics, reinforcing their status as a cultural icon. Alan Jackson's "Chattahoochee" is one of the most noted songs thanks to its lyrics, "Well we fogged up the windows in my old Chevy, I was willing, but she wasn't ready." "Song of the South" by Alabama Another great country song that gives Chevy a nod is " Song of the South " by Alabama. Released in 1988, the song features the lyrics, "Well Momma got sick and Daddy got down, the county got the farm and they moved to town. Papa got a job with the TVA; he bought a washing machine and then a Chevrolet." It's impossible to list all of the songs featuring Chevy over the years. What are some of your favorites?

Winter Car Buying: Features to Target in a Beater Vehicle

There's no way around it. There are certainly circumstance in our life when we desperately need a car, and we need it fast! Based on your emergency budget, you may be targeting some lower end used cars... and you may even find yourself eyeing some beaters. Now, beaters get a lot of scrutiny, but they're not all bad. These vehicles may look rough and beat up from the outside, but they should still be perfectly capable of bringing your from one destination to the other. Of course, if you're targeting a beater car, you're going to want to assure that all of the vehicle's mechanics are working properly. Since it's the winter, we may see some very cold mornings. If you've just purchased a beater car, you're likely relying on that vehicle for transportation. There won't be anything more frustrating than coming outside and learning that the vehicle won't start. To prevent these types of inconveniences, follow our guide to understand the features you should be prioritizing as you pursue a beater vehicle during the winter. When you're finished, you should have a better understanding of what to pursue when shopping for used cars in Lexington, Kentucky... more Heating/Air Conditioning Systems This unit of your vehicle is especially important if you live in north. Those winter mornings can be absolutely brutal, and you're going to want to assure that these units are working properly. Even if you live in an area that has better weather, it can still be important to secure a vehicle that has an operating air conditioning unit. Of course, it's not all about comfort. These heating units help keep your vehicle warm, which could prevent your beater car from failing in the cold. Considering the importance of heat in a vehicle, you're going to also want to test the defroster. This unit helps remove any ice "wintery" accumulation from your windshield, which makes it a major safety factor. "Unless it's chillingly cold outside, a properly working defroster should begin to defog the windshield in just a few minutes, essentially as soon as the engine begins making a little excess heat," Bill Visnic, an editor at Edmunds.com, told Mitch Strohm of BankRate.com. Finally, testing these heating systems may reveal an even larger, more serious issue. "If you have the heat blasting and detect a sweetish, burning smell inside the vehicle, something in the cooling system isn't working properly or there's a leak," Visnic says. Operating Battery As we previously mentioned, those heat systems will play a role in keeping other aspects of your vehicle warm. Still, there are some car parts that are naturally more susceptible to damage from the cold. A car's battery is at the top of the list, so you'll want to make sure you're securing a vehicle that won't fail you in the winter. "Exposure to extreme temperatures can affect battery life," said Ricky Brooks, the CEO of an Alabama-based oil change company. "If the car has trouble starting, it might be the battery, but could also be the alternator, so both must be tested to rule out any problems." It may be tough to identify when you've come across a faulty battery. If the car has problems starting, you may be looking at a battery issue. Of course, the only real way to identify this type of issue is by bringing the targeted vehicle to a professional mechanic. All-Wheel Drive Capabilities You're going to want the best possible traction as you're traveling down those snowy and icy roads, and four-wheel drive systems are truly the best attribute of those capable winter-driving cars. "All-wheel drive can keep the car from getting stuck in deep snow or help you climb a hill covered in slick pavement," says Karl Brauer, senior analyst for Kelley Blue Book, a car research site. "Front-wheel drive isn't as capable as all-wheel drive in these instances, but it's better than rear-wheel drive and is also more common, making it a cheaper alternative than all-wheel drive." Of course, if you happen to come across a beater that he these types of capabilities, you should expect to dish out some extra cash. As we previously mentioned, the best way to determine whether a used car is capable is by taking the targeted vehicle to a trustworthy mechanic. They'll be able to identify any underlying issues that could prevent you from buying that beater car.
