Camaro better than the Mustang? We think so!

If you are in the market for a tried-and-true high-performance car to drive through the city and countryside in Kentucky, you’ve likely looked at the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro. It has everything you would want in a high-performance vehicle – a powerful engine, a comfortable and sleek interior, and dependability. In addition, you’ve probably looked at the Camaro’s competitor, the Ford Mustang. This makes sense; they’ve competed since 1967.

Like most rivals, both rides are similar, but some differences put the 2022 Camaro ahead of the game.

Pricing

When looking for a vehicle, one of the first things you consider is the price. In this case, the Camaro has an advantage. A new 2022 Camaro ranges from $26,195 to $70,195. The 2022 Mustang is more expensive, ranging from $27,205 to $72,900.

But that’s not where the advantages end.

The 2022 Camaro has better technology and perks.

Every 2022 Camaro comes standard with connected services, including remote locking and engine start, automatic collision notification, emergency and weather-related crisis assistance, access to roadside services, and stolen-vehicle location services.[1] You also get a Wi-Fi hotspot and Chevrolet Teen Driver settings. In addition, you get one free scheduled maintenance visit during the first 12 months of ownership.

The Mustang’s connected services are not as expansive. You can remote lock and start with the FordPass app and get roadside assistance if you’re still within the warranty period. You also get a 3-month trial of a Wi-Fi hotspot. Ford does not offer free scheduled maintenance.

The Camaro is powerful and fun to drive.

Kelley Blue Book called the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro “wonderfully fun drive at any trim level.”[2] This is true – the base model starts at 275-hp with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, and it goes all the way up to 650-hp with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 in upper trims. It also starts at a standard 6-speed manual transmission, but there is an 8-speed or 10-speed automatic transmission you could choose instead.

The Camaro is more reliable.

The Camaro earned the highest rank among midsize sporty cars in the J.D. Power 2021 Vehicle Dependability Study, while the Mustang was not even among the top three. Also, the battery of the Camaro is in the trunk, increasing the battery life years by keeping it 20 to 30 degrees cooler.

What’s the difference between the ZL1 1LE and the GT350R?

If you are a sports car enthusiast, you’ve probably heard about the competition between the Camaro ZL1 1LE and the Mustang Shelby GT 350R for the best-ranked American-made muscle car. There are some key differences between the two that put the ZL1 1LE in first place.

For starters, the ZL1 1LE’s engine is a 6.2-liter V8, capable of 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. The 350R pales in comparison, only getting up to 527 horsepower from a 5.2-liter V8 engine. The engine on the Camaro comes with a standard six-speed automatic transmission, but owners can get the available 10-speed automatic transmission – unavailable on the Mustang. Because of its powerful engine, the powertrain on the ZL1 launches it from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The Mustang is slower, going from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. [3]

Overall, the Camaro is just a better buy. You don’t have to sacrifice the technology you’re used to in 2022 for performance – you’ll get both and more. If you’re in the Lexington area, come talk to us here at Dan Cummins to purchase your brand new 2022 Chevrolet Camaro.

2022 Jeep Compass

Jun 16, 2022

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass reliable?

The new Compass is reliable and designed to perform in all road conditions. The four-cylinder engine and advanced 4×4 and all-wheel drive systems will help you navigate Lexington’s winding backroads without any trouble. The Compass also has good gas mileage, with an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

The snow mode helps you to feel safe during the thick of Kentucky’s winters, allowing wheel slip for improved traction. All the front-wheel trims have a six-speed automatic transmission, while the all-wheel-drive models have a nine-speed automatic transmission and terrain conquering modes.

What is new in the 2022 Jeep Compass interior?

The 2022 Jeep Compass got an interior makeover, with a nice new dashboard and better features. The interior has room for four adult passengers and the seats are high enough to support passengers’ legs comfortably. The leather-trimmed, heated front and rear seats and steering wheel give the interior a luxurious feel[1].

The instrument panel was also redesigned to have a fabric mid-bolster and slim air vents. The Compass features the new Uconnect5 system on a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto, and wireless charging. A 10.25-inch digital cluster display is available, as well.

If you love music, you will love the Alpine premium audio system, which lets you blast your tunes through a 12-channel, 506-watt amplifier, nine speakers, and an 8-inch subwoofer.

What is new about the 2022 Jeep Compass exterior?

The redesigned 2022 Compass is modern and sleek, helping you transition from off-roading in the day, to downtown Lexington city streets at night. It has the iconic Jeep seven-slot grille, with rounded edges and a new texture to give a refreshed look. The fascia was also redesigned, enhancing the curves of the exterior. There is also a gloss black roof available, which gives the Compass even more of a sleek look.

The new Compass was designed to be safe in all weather conditions. The rain-sensing windshield wipers sense moisture on the windshield, then automatically activate the wipers. The heated exterior mirrors help you to keep a clear view of the road when it’s snowing. The windshield wiper de-icer clears the windshield of slush and ice by heating the bottom of the windshield.

Overall, the redesigned 2022 Jeep Compass is functional, yet still has an elevated, modern exterior.

Is the 2022 Jeep Compass safe?

Yes – the 2022 Compass has an array of standard and available advanced safety and security systems, including:

  • Standard forward-collision warnings with active braking, using advanced radar sensors help detect if your Compass is approaching another vehicle too fast. It alerts you and applies the brakes, if necessary.
  • Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, to alert you when other vehicles travel into one of your blind spot zones and warn you of unseen vehicles or obstacles when in reverse.
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology, to help relieve you of the pressure of long drives and stop-and-go traffic, adjusting your speed to maintain a preselected distance from the vehicle ahead
  • Active lane management, which measures your position within lane boundaries. If it detects an unintentional lane drift, it will alert you and correct the vehicle back into its lane. It also provides steering correction to help avoid a collision with surrounding vehicles in one of your blind spot zones.
  • Seven standard and advanced airbags (side-curtain front and rear), to help keep you safe in a crash.

What are the 2022 Jeep Compass trim levels and costs?

There are seven different trims of the Compass – meaning there is surely a Compass for your needs.

The different trims and their MSRP’s are:

  • Sport
    • FWD = $26,785
    • 4×4 = $28,285
  • Latitude

Can the Jeep Compass go off-road?

Yes – the 2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk would be a great choice for your off-roading adventures in the Kentucky countryside.

The Trailhawk has a powerful 2.4L Tigershark engine with 177 hp, a MultiAir two-valve train system, up to 2,000 pounds of towing capacity, and 172 lb.-ft. of torque. The Selec-Terrain traction management system adjusts shift patterns, engine performance, and torque distribution, helping to control the vehicle through different driving conditions.

The Hill descent control helps you to navigate steep inclines by monitoring the throttle and speed and helping you to stay focused on steering. The high air intakes and special water sealing let you cross shallow creeks[2] and the 4×4 systems give the right wheel traction when needed.

Overall, the Jeep is a great choice for a compact crossover SUV. It’s reliable, has great safety features, and has a redesigned, modern interior/exterior. Are you in the market for a new truck that has all the utility of the truck you need, plus modern technology and a premium interior? If so, look no further.

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country is equipped with top-safety features, a beautiful, comfortable interior, a powerful engine, and GM’s hands-free driving technology, Super Cruise.

How much can the Silverado High Country tow?

The Silverado 1500 High Country has a 6.2-liter V8 engine, with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 420 horsepower, 460 lb.-ft. of torque, and a tow rating of up to 9,700 pounds. The FWD combined city/highway fuel economy is 24 miles per gallon.

If you are looking for even more power, you can choose to go with the Silverado 2500, with a tow rating of 14,500 pounds, or the Silverado 3500, with a tow rating of 36,000 pounds.

What technology is included in the High Country?

You do not have to sacrifice modern technology for the functionality of a truck. The 2022 Silverado High Country has Google built-in, which features Google Assistant, a program that allows the driver to ask questions, send texts, access directions, change vehicle settings, and more, by simply saying, “Hey Google” or pressing the voice control button on the steering wheel. It also has Google Maps and Google Play.[1]

That’s not the only innovative feature this truck has to offer. Silverado High Country drivers can use Super Cruise, Chevy’s hands-free driving technology, on more than 200,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada. Super Cruise is functional with a trailer and has enhanced automatic emergency braking, lane-changing technology, and lane centering, which detects curves with live cameras, GPS, and sensors.

Super Cruise on the High Country also uses adaptive cruise control, where the driver can set a distance from a leading vehicle. To use Super Cruise, the driver must be on a compatible road, pay sufficient attention and meet all driving conditions (visible lane markings, available GPS tech, and no system faults).

If you are a music lover, you will enjoy the Bose Premium Sound System in the High Country, with seven speakers and a Richbass woofer. Bose has high-quality audio and speakers positioned throughout the cabin to guarantee rich, concert-like sound. You’ll also have access to a 3-month trial subscription of SiriusXM, with exclusive channels, shows, and content for your entertainment.

The High Country dash is sleek and modern, with a 12.3-inch Driver Information Center and a huge 13.4-inch touchscreen display. It features real open-pore wood trim and leather seats – the comfort and style you deserve. It gives you several options to charge your devices, with four USB ports, two 120-volt power outlets, and wireless charging. To ensure you are comfortable as a passenger or driver, the 2022 High Country has dual-zone automatic climate control, heated/ventilated front and rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Is the 2022 Silverado 1500 High Country a safe vehicle?

The 2022 Silverado has a plethora of advanced features to keep you safe. It can display the time gap, in seconds, between you and the vehicle you are following, which allows you to decide if you are too close. It also has front pedestrian braking, which automatically provides or enhances hard emergency braking – a major step in avoiding or reducing the severity of a front-end collision with a pedestrian. In addition, the Silverado has HD Surround Vision (a digital overhead image of the area around the vehicle), OnStar and Chevy connected services compatibility, a tire pressure monitoring system, and truck bed-view and trailer cameras.

Perhaps the most useful safety feature of the Silverado, for parents, is the optional Teen Driver setting. Teen driver settings allow parents to monitor their kids’ driving behavior without having to be in the vehicle with them. These settings include an in-car report card that parents can check, which monitors distance driven, maximum speed reached, Overspeed warnings, stability control, and traction control events, anti-lock brake events, forward collision alerts (if equipped), forward collision avoidance braking events (if equipped), tailgating alerts, and wide-open throttle events. Teen driver mode also features speed warnings, speed limiters, audio limits, and a setting to turn off the music until the driver wears a seat belt. These settings help to ensure your child is safe and protected when you cannot be in the car with them.

For additional peace of mind, the 2022 Silverado has Buckle to Drive, a setting designed to encourage drivers to wear their seatbelts before driving. If a driver tries to shift out of park and is not wearing a seatbelt, the setting will not allow the driver to shift until 20 seconds have passed, with audio and visual alerts.

Is the High Country the best option for off-roading?

You can certainly take the High Country off-road, but the 2022 Silverado ZR2 would be the best choice for an off-roading Chevy truck. The ZR2 has an impressive 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8 engine, with a 31.8-degree approach angle and a maximum tow load of 8,900 pounds.

The ZR2 also has 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Mud Terrain tires, an off-road cut front bumper, and large underbody aluminum skid plates to help you venture onto off-road trails, while Chevy Safety Assist and other technology help to keep you safe.

Or you could opt for the 2022 Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss, with a 2-inch factory suspension lift and Z71 Off-Road package, 18-inch high-gloss black-painted wheels, Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac mud-terrain tires, and an Autotrac two-speed transfer case with automatic locking rear differential and skid plates.

Is there a fully electric alternative to the Silverado 1500?

Chevy will begin producing the Silverado EV in the second quarter of 2023. With up to 400 miles of range per charge and tech that can charge the battery to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is a solid choice. The truck has serious power–up to 664-hp and the capability to tow up to 10,000 pounds. For a more in-depth preview of what’s featured in the 2024 Silverado EV click here.

What are all the trim levels and costs of the Silverado 1500?

The 2022 Silverado 1500 comes in nine trims, at various price levels[2]. The trims, from lowest to highest cost, are:

  • Work Truck (WT), starting at $33,800
  • Custom, starting at $40,800
  • LT, starting at $44,900
  • Custom Trail Boss, starting at $48,700

General Motors has just announced the launch of a used car brand named CarBravo

This OEM-backed customer-first brand is a new way to source your next used car, truck, or SUV on CarBravo.com  CarBravo puts your customer experience at the center and gives you the advantage of a nationwide network of dealer locations, a host of buyer benefits, and an incredible online storefront with amazing shopping and research tools.  The nation’s largest used car inventory will be available along with with the best online car shopping experience to date.

Why is GM getting involved with a used car brand?

GM is making a solid move with CarBravo in order to assist its national dealer network in gaining a larger share of the growing used vehicle market.  In a statement to Automotive news, Steve Carlisle, president of GM North America stated “CarBravo will give customers more choice and access to shop significantly expanded inventories of both the dealer and a national central stock of GM used vehicles. Importantly, the program features will also be offered on non-GM-used vehicles. CarBravo is designed to provide customers the convenience to shop how they want, where they want — online, at the dealership or both.”

In 2020, the used vehicle sales volume in the United States was approximately 39.1 million cars according to Cox Automotive.   GM franchised dealers accounted for around 6.5% of the 39 million with sales of 2.5 million used cars.  By comparison, Carvana retailed just over 244,000 vehicles in 2020 while CarMax sold 832,000 in their 2020 fiscal year.  In recent years, there has been a lot of disruption in the automotive retail industry especially in used cars.  Start-ups such as Carvana and Vroom self-proclaim to be the better way to buy and have caused a stir with their negative advertising about car dealerships.  This is ironic in that they are nothing more than car dealerships that lack the ability to provide service to their customers.  With a network of approximately 4,000 dealers nationwide with service centers full of certified technicians and support staff, GM has recognized the opportunity to leverage its advantage over these online retailers.

Consumers like you want transparency and a simple way to purchase your new or used car.  You also want to do it within a reasonable amount of time by accomplishing much of your research online in the comfort of your home.  Ideally, the time spent in the dealership is for the fun stuff, like the test drive and the vehicle personalization of all the tech features that cars are equipped with today.  Most research, pricing, loan approval, and trade evaluation can be done online on the best dealer websites like the one for Dan Cummins Auto Group.  CarBravo will deploy a suite of the latest tools that will enhance your online car shopping experience.  So if you are a person who would prefer to accomplish 100% of the buying process online you can.  However if you are like most, you’d prefer a hybrid approach by accomplishing most of the process online and then finishing up the process in store where you can fully experience the used vehicle before the final decision is made.  A recent article in Forbes magazine talks about the hybrid shopping approach that most consumers want today  It’s an excellent read and the Dan Cummins and CarBravo shopping experience is aligned with what customers want.

What types of used vehicles are listed for sale on CarBravo?

Not only can you find your perfect Chevrolet, GMC, and Buick on the website, but you can find cars from nearly all makes and models!  Hondas, Toyotas, Jeeps, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Ram trucks, and many other used brands will be on the site. These used vehicles listed for sale nationwide on CarBravo are from a variety of sources. GM factory cars, grounded rentals, and GM Financial off-lease vehicles.  Subscribing GM dealers, like Dan Cummins Chevrolet Buick of Paris and Dan Cummins of Georgetown, KY will list select used cars, trucks, and SUVs alongside these GM vehicles. Dan Cummins will list many of their used vehicles that are new car trade ins, off-lease purchases, and privately sourced used vehicles.   Used vehicle inventory on the CarBravo website may reach over 100,000 vehicles and give the consumer the power to find their dream car in a simple transparent manner. Our team at Dan Cummins will guide you on your shopping journey and ensure that YOU win on CarBravo.

CarBravo vehicles are listed in two categories, CarBravo Certified and BravoBudget and both come with unique benefits. CarBravo certified vehicles include a 6 month or 6000 mile limited bumper to bumper warranty and are vehicles no older than 10 model years old with less than 100,000 miles. On GM brand CarBravo vehicles that are still under the factory warranty, this coverage gets added on.  The limited warranty begins on day the factory coverage expires.  BravoBudget vehicles are between 15 and 11 model years old and include a 30 day limited powertrain warranty. BravoBudget vehicles have under 150,000 miles. Both vehicle types come with a 10 day or 500 mile exchange promise to give you the extra reassurance that you made the best choice for your family.

Open Your Liftgate with a Kick

As one of the more advanced technologies coming in as a new and exciting feature, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban are equipped with Hands-Free Liftgate. Hands-Free Liftgate is primarily programmable through simple kick motion under your bumper. With an illuminated projection of the Chevy logo, the Hands-Free Liftgate will direct you where to place your foot to open your trunk. Liftgate is also operated by the buttons on your key fob.

How Hands-Free Power Liftgate Works on your Chevy Tahoe and Suburban

While using the Hands-Free Liftgate in your 2021 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban is programmed through a simple kick, the last thing we want is for you to be kicking your bumper like a Rockette. Here is more detailed information on how this feature works.

Operating the Hands-Free Power Liftgate

  1. Approach the rear of your vehicle with your key fob in your hand, pocket, or a bag in close proximity.
  2. Aim your kick over the illuminated logo. Kick up beneath the bumper in one quick, straight motion.

Important Note(s):

  • Do not kick the actual bumper
  • Do not use a sweeping side foot motion
  • Key fob must be within three feet of the vehicle for your kick to work
  1. Step away from your liftgate as there will be a two-second delay before opening. Your Liftgate will alert you with flashing tail lamps and a chiming sound.
  2. Close the liftgate with another kick or by using the Close button inside your vehicle’s liftgate area.

Adjusting Height on Hands-Free Power Liftgate

The power liftgate button is located on the driver side door and you can make adjustments to its height at which it opens. The three heights you can tailor the settings to are MAX height, ¾, and OFF, which gives you the option to manually open your liftgate.

How Big is the 2021 Chevy Suburban

The best way to describe the size of the 2021 Chevy Suburban titan is the largest SUV to ever wear a bowtie.
