The All-Electric Equinox: A Brand-New, Affordable, and Modern EV from Chevrolet

Last week, Chevrolet announced the new and exciting Chevrolet Equinox EV. Described by Chevrolet as an “affordable, functional, and stylish EV”, the Equinox EV will be available for sale in Fall 2023. The compact, fully electric SUV is expected to be the most affordable EV in its class, with a starting MSRP of around $30,000 on the 1LT. GM estimates the Equinox EV will get up to 300 miles on a full charge, making it practical as a daily driver and a road-trip vehicle. Keep reading to learn more about the all-new Equinox EV.

Attractive, Sporty Design on the Interior and Exterior

The Equinox EV will have a clean and modern exterior, featuring walk-up lighting and complete with sleek lines and muscular details. It will feature innovative walk-up lighting, with standard front and rear lighting animations and an available unique light bar on the LT and RS trim. Chevrolet will also offer a presence-based liftgate that can open hands-free when it senses the key fob is near the back of the vehicle, making it easier than ever to load your cargo into the trunk. Depending on the trim, you can choose between the standard 19” wheels, or the available 20” and 21” wheels. All this is built on the Ultium platform, enabling sleek lines and sporty proportions.

The interior will be just as modern, with room for five, available personalized ambient lighting, and a smart infotainment system. It will have an intuitive technology suite, featuring an available massive 17.7” diagonal driver-centric freeform display. The spacious cabin will have up to 57 cu. ft. of max cargo room, with the rear seat folded, and a dual height cargo floor.

Chevrolet designed every feature in the Equinox EV for your comfort and convenience. There will be heated front and rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield wiper park feature that keeps the area around the wiper clear of ice buildup.

Powerful Electric Capability

The Equinox EV will come standard with a front-wheel drive system with a GM-estimated capability of 210 hp and 242 lb.-ft. of torque. If you want even more power, the eAWD system will be capable of 290 hp, 346 lb.-ft. of torque, and a 0-60 mph speed of 6 seconds.

Chevrolet will offer standard one-pedal driving on the Equinox EV, allowing the Equinox EV to accelerate and slow to a full stop using only the accelerator. This will be paired with regenerative braking, converting the kinetic energy of the vehicle’s forward momentum into electricity that’s stored in the battery pack to maximize the driving range.

The Equinox EV will also have the latest charging technology, which will include:

• Standard 11.5 kW Level 2 (AC) charging, which can add up to 34 miles of range per hour of charging, per GM estimates
• 2 kW Level 2 (AC) charging is available on 3RS eAWD, which can add up to 51 miles of range per hour of charging, per GM estimates
• Standard DC fast-charging capability of up to 150 kW, which enables approximately 70 miles of range to be added in 10 minutes, per GM estimates

GM will cover the battery for up to 8 years or 100,000 miles with a limited warranty.

Intuitive Driver Technology

The Equinox EV will offer Chevrolet’s advanced hands-free driving technology, Super Cruise. This will allow you to explore up to 400,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada. The electric Equinox will also have a hands-free start system, which can sense your presence and intuitively start when you have your key fob. All you’ll have to do is shift into drive and go.

An Abundant Safety Suite

If you are interested in the Equinox EV as a family vehicle, you will be happy to learn of the safety features. The safety suite on the Equinox EV will include:

• Automatic emergency braking
• Front pedestrian braking
• Lane-keep assist with lane departure warning
• Forward collision alert
• Intellibeam Auto High Beams
• Following distance indicator
• Reverse automatic braking
