Why the Redesigned 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is a Class-Leader
Since its introduction into the market in 2015, the Chevrolet Colorado has been a class leader for mid-sized trucks. And in 2017, it disrupted the segment altogether, showing off its capability as an ultimate off-roading truck. But the innovation doesn’t stop there. The 2023 Chevy Colorado was redesigned to be more capable and forward-thinking than any Colorado before. New for 2023, Colorado drivers will get a reconfigurable bed, 10 available best-in-class camera views, and five performance modes to keep you confident on difficult terrain.
To get the Colorado to the next level, Chevy engineers focused on three key areas:
- Elevated Design
- Enhanced Performance
- New and Useful Technology
Keep reading to learn more about the Chevy truck’s redesigned features in these three areas.
Elevated Design
The 2023 Colorado not only has new exterior styling, but also an all-new interior with top-tier refinement and functionality. Chevy gives drivers four new unique interior trims, as well, which feature sporty round outboard vents, wrapped and stitched knee pads on the doors and center console for select models, and more adventurous contrast stitching on some models.
In the middle of the ’23 Colorado’s cabin, you will notice the class-leading, standard 11.3-inch diagonal color infotainment touchscreen. It’s accompanied by a segment-first 8-inch diagonal fully digital color instrument display.
If you love the Colorado for its off-roading capabilities, Chevy has you covered. The off-road access portfolio has more than doubled from previous years.
Enhanced Performance
Chevy’s innovation didn’t end there – Chevy added a 2.7L Turbo engine, with three variants, that powers all five models. The new 2.7L Turbo engine gives more horsepower and torque than the previously offered three engines.

The Colorado also comes with up to five drive modes to help you perform in different driving conditions. The different modes available are:
- Off-road
- Terrain
- Baja
- Tow/Haul
- Normal
There’s also a new Off-Road Performance Display, which helps you monitor your driving performance in real-time with an altimeter, 3D pitch and roll, g-force meter, and more. All models have a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase than previous models, and a shortened front overhand to give the truck a more aggressive stance.
On the Trail Boss, you get a two-inch lifted suspesnion and wide chassis that produce more ground clearance and a wider front track than the WT and LT for better off-roading. If you want the best of the best, the ZR2 is the most off-roading capable, with a 3-inch lifted suspension and upgraded Multimatic DSSV dampers.
New and Useful Technology
The new Colorado’s 11.3-inch-diagonal infotainment screen has a plethora of new tech, including:
- Segment first Google Built In for access maps, music vehicles, and more (available)
- Customizable and configurable screens
- More camera views than any competitor in its class (up to 10 camera views) accessible on the infotainment screen, including an available underbody camera on Z71 and ZR2
- Off-Road Performance Display, with an available app to monitor off-roading performance
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto Compatibility
- Available Wireless Charging
- Standard Chevy Safety Assist (includes Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Intellibeam Auto High Beam, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Pedestrian Alert)
The 2023 Colorado also has standard Hitch Guidance, which has a guideline to help line up the trailer and hitch. It also comes with Hitch View, which has a zoomed-in view of the hitch to help with alignment with the coupler. In addition, the new Colorado has a new Trailering App, designed to help drivers with everything from hitching to on-road assistance to responding to potential hazards.
