The Chevy Camaro ZL1 has hit the ground running since it made it's debut back in 2011. Including a supercharged engine, improved power (assisted by innovative technology), and some track-ready features, the supercar was generally regarded as one of the best on the market. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that many car enthusiasts are anticipating the release of the 2017 model, which could be one of the most impressive cars on the market. There hasn't been much news on the car, but John Halas and the team at CarScoops.com got their hands on some exclusive photos of the vehicle. Before you head out to your local Lexington Chevrolet dealership, see why you may want to wait for the 2017 ZL1... more Sure, the pictures don't reveal a whole lot about the vehicle's "styling details," but that doesn't mean the CarScoops report doesn't give us anything. As Halas writes, we can clearly see a large heat extractor, and the inclusion of such a part would make plenty of sense. After all, a similar part is included on the Corvette Z06 and the Cadillac CTS-V, and both of those car's use a similar LT4 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. Because of these assumptions, Halas took some liberties when it came to projecting the vehicle's specs. The Z06 produces 650 horsepower and 650 ft-lbs of torque, while the Z06 can pump out 640 horsepower and 630 ft-lbs of torque. Even if the ZL1's numbers fall somewhere in that range, it would still be an upgrade over the 5th generation model, which delivered 580 horsepower and 550 ft-lbs of torque. There's a variety of other assumed specs/features that Halas throws out there, including a reduced curb weight (which, based on the regular Camaro 6, should be down around 200 pounds), a revamped suspension and brake bits, and a "more aggressive body kit." The writer refers to the spy photos for this latter projection, noting that the car "seemed more complete than others did, sporting wider rocket panels, a bigger fixed rear wing, a deep front splitter and possibly blistered fenders to make space for the wider tires." Unfortunately, potential buyers are going to have to wait a couple of months before they can get their hands on Chevy's new car. The 2017 ZL1 is expected to be released following the launch of the 2016 Camaro Convertible, which is expected to hit the market next spring. The ZL1 should debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, so that's certainly something to look forward to. In the meantime, head down to Dan Cummins Chevrolet and check out their selection of Camaros. The Chevrolet Malibu first rolled off the assembly line back in 1964, and despite a brief hiatus - the iconic mid-size car just hit an impressive milestone. Whether brand new, or buying from used car dealers in Lexington, KY - the Chevrolet Malibu is certainly standing up to the test of time. It has been 51 years since Chevrolet’s very first midsize car was produced, and while it may technically be “over the hill,” the Malibu is holding strong. Just this week, Chevrolet announced that ten million Malibu sedans are currently on the road today. The impressive number doesn’t just mean that Chevy has sold a lot of sedans - it means that the Malibu now exists within a unique context of automotive history. more While it may have been over 50 years since the first Malibu was sold, the sedan took more than a decade off in the 1980’s and 1990’s. The 10 million sales mark came at the perfect time for the automotive giant - who just started production on the all-new 2016 Malibu. In honor of this incredibly impressive milestone, and the ninth-generation of the iconic sedan - let’s take a look back at everything the Malibu has offered over the past 51 years. First Generation: 1964-1967 Originally created to serve as a sub-series to the Chevrolet Chevelle, the Malibu was top-of the line in every way. Offered in multiple variations including a two door sport coupe, four-door sedan, two seat station wagon, and a convertible - the original Chevy Malibu was capable of fitting into every lifestyle. Upscale amenities were present throughout the lush interior cabin, including a deluxe steering column, vinyl upholstery, and deep twist carpeting. In 1967, Chevrolet offered the Malibu with a premium stereo system and 8-track tape player. A new wood grain exterior also made an appearance, and the V8 models could go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 6.2 seconds. Second Generation: 1968-1972 Along with the Chevelle, Chevy completely restyled the Malibu for the 1968 model year. A new instrument panel, and a Concours luxury package gave drivers the option for ultimate luxury. A brand new 5.0 liter V8 engine replaced the 4.6 liter V8 that disappeared with the outgoing model year. Throughout this generation, the Malibu also received various styling updates such as revised grilles, taillights, and rear decks. In 1972, Chevy offered the Malibu as a hardtop and convertible for the last time. Third Generation: 1973-1977 An interesting generation for the iconic sedan - the Malibu’s third generation included a complete redesign for 1973. Offered in three different trim levels including the base Chevelle Deluxe, the mid-range Malibu, and the top of the line Laguna. For 1974, the Deluxe model was dropped, making the Malibu the entry level Chevelle model. In 1977, the Malibu Classic became the nameplate’s high-end trim level offering, and featured a four square headlight arrangement that was completely unique and unusual. Fourth Generation: 1978-1983 Up until the 1978 model year, the Malibu was sold under the Chevelle name. Now the bestselling badge in the lineup, the name “Malibu” completely replaced “Chevelle.” Along with the new badging, came an entirely new Malibu. Over a foot shorter than the outgoing model, the all-new Malibu shed up to 1,000 pounds overall, and offered increased head room, leg room, and trunk space. The Malibu and Malibu Classic were the only two trim levels offered, and Chevrolet introduced a new V6 family of engines for the new sedan. Available in three body styles, drivers were able to choose from a station wagon, coupe, or sedan. The new Malibu was widely used in NASCAR, and even used as part of Iraqi’s fleet of government vehicles. After the 1983 model year, Chevrolet and General Motors would not produce a new Malibu for over ten years. Fifth Generation: 1997-2003 The Malibu made a strong comeback in 1997, with an all-new front-wheel drive model introduced to the American public. The Malibu’s comeback was so strong, that Motor Trend magazine named the midsize sedan its Car of the Year for 1997. From 1997-1999, the Malibu featured a 3.1 liter V6 with 155 horsepower. The 2004-2005 Malibu was offered with a more environmentally-friendly 2.2-liter Ecotec I4 engine that still managed to boast 144 horsepower. Sixth Generation: 2004-2007 This newest generation of Chevrolet’s Malibu was moved to the Epsilon platform based on the 2002 Opel Vectra. Available in only two body styles, drivers could choose from a four-door sedan, or a five-door Malibu Maxx station wagon. The Malibu Maxx was Chevrolet’s first attempt at a hatchback since the 1980s. Drivers who wanted more power and a sportier drive, could opt for a special SS trim on either Malibu body styles. This high-end option featured 240 horsepower, 18-inch alloy wheels, a three-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, chrome instruments, and upscale accents throughout the cabin. Seventh Generation: 2008-2012 A brand new design team was brought in for the seventh generation Malibu. Offered in five different trim levels, the 2008 Malibu was even available as a hybrid option. OnStar was included on every seventh generation Malibu, as well as six airbags, traction control, anti lock brakes, daytime running lights, and an electronic tire pressure monitoring system. For 2011, the Malibu included Bluetooth technology, USB ports, remote start, and a security alarm - all standard. These advanced technologies were just starting to surface in the automotive industry, and the Chevrolet was using the Malibu to help lead other automotive manufacturers in a new standard for in-vehicle technology. Eighth Generation: 2013-2015 Debuting in 2012, the all-new Malibu was a global vehicle, and was offered in over 100 markets across the world. The 2012 Malibu was available in various trim levels, and even included an ECO option, for drivers who were environmentally conscious. Nearly all Malibu models came standard with a large touch screen infotainment center with Chevrolet’s MyLink and Pandora. Four cylinder engines were all paired with standard six-speed automatic transmissions, and a 2.0-liter diesel engine was also available. 18 months after the 2013 model debuted, Chevrolet refreshed the Malibu to match that of the redesigned Impala, and Traverse. Ninth Generation: 2016 Back in April of this year, Chevrolet unveiled the all-new 2016 Malibu at the New York International Auto Show. The brand new Malibu begins production this week, and is slated to hit dealer showrooms late fall. Drivers can expect larger interior room, increased fuel economy, and four trim level options. A Malibu Hybrid will also accompany the release, and will feature a 1.8 liter four cylinder engine, and an 80-cell 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. The all-new Ecotec 1.5 liter turbo engine will come standard on the 2016 Malibu, while a 2.0 liter turbo engine will be optional. Advanced safely features, unparalleled in-vehicle technology, and a first-ever teen driver feature, will all be available on the newest Chevy Malibu. If you identify with the horde of other Camaro fans and you are ever so patiently waiting for the new 2016 Camaro to be released, well....keep waiting.  Its just not quite ready.  Even Lexington Chevrolet dealers don’t have them yet. But Wait!  Chevy is satiating your appetite with a starter.  Currently, you can go to Chevy’s website and start building your very own 2016 Camaro.  Focusing on aesthetics and superficial items like paint color, interior treatments, wheel options and some stripe packages are about all Chevy is willing to offer to this very excited audience as of now. more It seems that playing hard to get is a favorite pastime of Chevy’s.  Ahem, Chevy, we’ve been down this road with you before.  It’s a bit late to be so coy, isn’t it? Trims Chevy has outlined for us, the trim levels: 1LT, 2LT, 1SS and ...you guessed it, 2SS.  From what we already know about the SS, it will come with a V8, but what we don’t know is what the engine will look like in the other trim levels.  Offering both a Turbo and V6, will these be brand specific? Powertrain Lineup The 2.0L Turbocharged engine will give you 275 horsepower and 295 lb/ft of torque which may be quite enough for the novice Camaro driver, but waiting as patiently as you have been you’re going to want something a little more powerful.  The 3.6L V6 provides plenty of punch with 335 horsies and 284 lb/ft of torque. Using Direct Injection and Variable Valve Timing on an 8 speed automatic with Active Fuel Management takes this experience to another level.  Should you feel like this Camaro just isn’t bitchin’ enough, the top drawer V8 should suffice.  At 6.2L with both horsepower and torque coming in at 455, the highly reputable LT1 V8 small block engine brings to life the most powerful Camaro SS ever. For the second year in a row, Chevy’s Spark wins Kelley Blue Book’s 5-Year Cost to Own Award. As Chevy ventured into the subcompact car category by producing the Spark which is both their smallest and least expensive vehicle offered, winning the 5 Year Cost to Own award proves Chevy's earned their place in this segment as well. more 5-Year Cost to Own Every year, Kelley Blue Book gives awards out in a variety of categories.  This year, they named the 2015 Chevy Spark  'The 5-Year Cost to Own' award. But what exactly does that mean? Having already stopped production of the 2015 Volt to prepare itself for the upcoming 2016 model, Chevy is also preparing for the rumors that are already in existence. With this percentage it is estimated the driver saves an average of $700 annually on gas. All this adds up to a 40% improvement over last years model. Chevy is going to pull out all the stops when releasing the 2nd generation of the Volt.  The 2016 Volt is lighter in weight which only adds to the fuel efficiency.  Chevy’s made improvements to the passenger room as well as overall feel of the interior. The 2016 Chevy Volt will start at $33,170 which is lower than its current MSRP of $34,170. Of course, once you take out the state and federal tax credits for the support of lower emissions, the price can be lowered as much as $9,000 making it a very affordable $24,170. Sales of the Chevy Colorado began in 2014. So far this year, total sales have topped out at 48,784, and the year isn't over yet. For July alone, Chevy sold more than 7,200 Colorado pickup trucks. Just going by those numbers, it seems safe to assume that these two special editions will prove popular. Technologically-savvy, the Colorado offers all the safety and infotainment features that are now expected as standard , including a rearview backup camera, and available eight-inch Chevy MyLink touchscreen infotainment, with connectivity guaranteed by the 4G LTE WiFi. The Colorado comes with two drivetrain options. Choose from the base 2.5-liter four cylinder, rated at 200 horsepower with 191 lb.-ft. of torque or the available 3.6-liter V6 engine, able to produce 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque. Towing capacity from the V6 is measured at 7,000 pounds, while the four-cylinder gets about half that, rated at a maximum of 3,500 pounds. Although both the Base and Work Truck trim levels are capable and versatile, let's take a look at the LT and Z71 trim levels without the special edition details. After all, the Midnight Edition and Trail Boss editions just enhance what are already amazing pickup packages in their own right. First up, the Colorado LT… The LT is loaded with features, starting with those available in the lower trim levels from the WT Convenience and Work Truck Appearance packages. It's many car enthusiasts' dream to restore an old Chevy truck, and Stanton, California resident Jack Acosta has had the pleasure of working on his restoration project for the last 20 years. After finding a beat up 1953 Chevrolet 3100 pickup on the side of the road, Acosta has made fixing the beater a hobby. Even if you do happen to come across a 1953 3100 at a Lexington Chevrolet dealership, yours won't look anything like the 57-year-old's. Let's find out why… more The story started in 1995, when Acosta found a beat up pick-up on the side of a Laguna Canyon road. Having grown up admiring his grandfather's collection of classic Chevy trucks, he immediately knew he had to have the hidden treasure. The truck didn't feature a 'for sale' sign, but Acosta still attached a note with his phone number and an offer to buy the truck for $1,000. The owner wasn't so keen on selling the truck, and she had absolutely no interest in Acosta's offer. However, the then 37-year-old received a call back about a month later, with the owner accepting the offer. Acosta's budget had dropped a bit over those 30 days, and despite having to lower his offer to $800, the original owner accepted. The new car owner soon learned why he got such a good deal. “It had survived the big Laguna fire that happened in 1993. So there were dents on every side, the paint was stripped, all rusty. It was a load of work. My wife was not pleased when I brought it home,” he explained to Johan Moreno of The Orange County Register. Over the past twenty years, Acosta has slowly added to his truck. He painted the truck burgundy and champagne, and he personalized the vehicle by adding (as Moreno described) "gangster whitewall" wheels, 22-inch bellflower tips, "cat eyes" headlight covers and, to top it all off, a screaming eagle on the hood. He also upgraded some of the technology, replacing the leaf springs with airbags. As the writer explains, this helps lower the suspension system, allowing the driver to lift the car up or down. Despite all the work he's done, Acosta isn't finished with his project, as he will still occasionally scan eBay for add-ons. “That’s the thing about restoring a car, you’re never really done working on it,” he says.
