The company, led by chief executive Ernie Garcia (who admitted that the idea is "a little crazy on the surface"), wants to take the stress out of the car-buying process, transforming it into a fun and enjoyable event. “We just want to make it as seamless as possible,” Garcia said. “Having a new car is really, really fun, but buying it is not the most fun experience." "I think what we’re trying to create is a fun way to pick up your car that is also metaphorically representative of what we are as a brand," Garcia added to Ashlee Kieler of Consumerist.com. "It’s fun, it’s easy, it’s automated, and the customer is in control." The process is easy and pretty straight forward. The customer cannot haggle over the price, and the company won't encourage the buyer to add any deluxe trims or features. You choose your vehicle online, fill out some corresponding paperwork, establish all of the financings, and then travel to the giant vending machine in Tennessee, where you'll pick up your new ride. The 20-car tower is not employee-free, as staff is present to assist you in the process. The used vehicles are scrutinized and subject to a 150-point inspection that dives into every part of the vehicle. Potential buyers can even drive the car around for a week before they commit to the purchase. As McFarland writes, another incentive would be the financial aspect, as potential buyers can avoid dealership's operation costs. However, the inability to haggle a price with Carvana limits that advantage, as customers at dealerships could realistically negotiate a lower price and remove those fees from the final cost. The company has seen a recent boom in popularity, increasing revenue from $4 million in 2013 to $45 million in 2014. Garcia said he intends on building more vending machines in the new few years, although he wasn't specific about any locations. As we’ve seen in the past, it’s extremely difficult for a business to revamp the car-buying industry. As a result, we often see some pretty creative ideas, like this giant vending machine. While it’s very unlikely that they'll ever replace the traditional dealership, we can still appreciate the innovative idea.

Motor Trend magazine first debuted all the way back in 1949, and was the first ever publication to honor a vehicle as a "Car of the Year." For those who are curious, that first recognition from the prestigious automotive magazine, was the Cadillac's V8 engine the same year the magazine was first published. The early awards from Motor Trend weren't aimed at a specific make and model, but rather the automotive manufacturer or division. Fast forward to over fifty years later, and Motor Trend's "Car of the Year" award is widely recognized as the highest honor awarded in the entire auto industry. To say that automakers want this coveted title each year, is a massive understatement. more Not only do the winners of the Car of the Year award go on to use the honor in advertising campaigns throughout the rest of the year, they also go on to sell more vehicles, and experience an obvious spike in sales numbers. Motor Trend just released its list of finalists for their 2016 Car of the Year awards, and our favorite bowtie brand is on the list - several times. To say that Chevrolet car dealers across the country are excited about this is also, a massive understatement. How Motor Trend Picks the Finalists Since the publication first created this now-prestigious award, the categories have grown, right along with the amount of automotive segments in the current market. There are currently three categories for Motor Trend's Car of the Year awards: Truck of the Year, Car of the Year, and SUV of the Year. Each category has a long list of worthy finalists, which the publication narrows down before picking the official winners. In order for a vehicle to qualify for the coveted award, the car, truck, or SUV must be completely new, or "substantially upgraded" from the previous model year. In an attempt to keep the award from only going to super cars or luxury high-end models, Motor Trend only considers vehicles that have a starting MSRP of under $100,000. After a vehicle meets the most basic criteria, Motor Trend then subjects each model to a variety of tests, to ensure that the vehicle is up to their expected high standards. Check out a few of those criteria below: Skid-pad ratings Acceleration times Interior evaluation Normal road tests to test everyday drivability Fuel economy ratings Towing capacity for the Truck & SUV categories Speed After these tests are completed, the top vehicles from each category, go on to become finalists. Rather than the Motor Trend judges executing a simple comparison test, they evaluate teach vehicle on six different key categories.  Check out the six different criteria that judges used to determine the Car of the Year winners for 2014: Design Advancement - Selection of materials, innovative vehicle packaging, well executed interior and exterior styling. Engineering Excellence - Clever packaging, dynamics issues, and manufacturing solutions; execution of vehicle concept; technology that both benefits the driver, and is cost-effective. Efficiency - Judges the fuel efficiency rating and carbon footprint, while keeping in mind the type of vehicle and its overall purpose. Safety - Active safety features that help the driver avoid a potential collision; secondary safety features that protect passengers when a collision does occur. Value - How competitive the pricing of the vehicle is, and the various trim levels offered, compared to other vehicles in the same segment. Performance of Intended Function - Rates how effectively the vehicle performs the job that its designers, engineers, and planners intended. After their initial evaluation, the judges debate and make a final decision on the winner of that category. 2016 Car of the Year Finalists Just this week, Motor Trend announced its finalists for all three of its competitive categories. Each one of those lists includes at least one Chevrolet model, which gives the Bowtie brand big hopes for what may come for its 2016 lineup.   Last year, the 2015 Volkswagen Golf took home the award for Car of the Year, but this year's winner is still undecided. Ram did not make this list, and the trend for Truck of the Year for 2016 seems to be new diesel engine offerings. Again, these models are not listed in any particular order. 2016 Chevrolet Colorado - Offering a diesel engine option for the first time, this midsize pickup is making big strides in its segment. 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Completely restyled with expanded offerings such as a new eight-speed automatic transmission. 2016 Toyota Tacoma - New V6 engine option and restyled interior cabin. 2016 Nissan Titan XD - Another diesel finalist, this one is offering a 5.0-liter Turbodiesel V8. 2016 GMC Canyon - Again, a new diesel engine option for this model year. 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 - Updated for this model year, the Sierra also offers the eight-speed automatic transmission. 2016 SUV of the Year Finalists One of the fastest growing, most popular segments in today's automotive industry, the SUV is taking the world by storm. As a Chevrolet car dealer, we here at Dan Cummins would like to believe that Chevrolet will take the top spot in all three categories - but the competition this year is stiff. Each entry and finalist deserves a spot on that list, and the professional judges at Motor Trend are the only people who can make the final decision on which vehicle wins out over all of the rest. The winner from each category will take home the coveted Golden Caliper trophy, which is rumored to be completely made-over for this year's awards. Until we find out for certain which make and model Motor Trend names as the 2016 Automobiles of the Year, we will sit, speculate, and keep our fingers crossed for our favorite bowtie-wearing models.

Car enthusiasts seem to be a relatively creative bunch who enjoy revamping their cars. Without these dedicated owners modifying and customizing, many of the vehicles on the road would be tough to distinguish. For some owners, it's never easy to identify the area of the car that they want to revamp. This dilemma is made significantly easier for truck owners, as they've got an entire bed to work with. Furthermore, they may be more willing to play with their truck when it's used. Similar to other automobile fans, I've used the truck bed to do more than storing and hauling. When I was younger, I would serve imaginary hot dogs to my friends, as the bed was ideal for serving as my "imaginary food truck." Once I got a bit older, I was occasionally sent to the bed due to a lack of room in the cabin. When I reached my teen years, I realized that the truck bed was actually a great "snuggle spot." Of course, my use of the truck bed wasn't even close to being the most innovative idea. Before you head out to used car lots in Lexington, Kentucky, see all the modifications you'd be able to make if you opt for a pickup... more A Bus This idea requires little maintenance, as it only requires benches, seatbelts, and walls. Of course, there are very few places that will allow you to transform your cargo area into a seating area, so you might have to pursue this in another country. There are 20 states with no laws regarding riders in a truck bed, and most of the states with "restrictions" are essentially trying to ensure that children aren't placed in the back. Still, it's a lengthy process to get your truck approved as a public transportation vehicle. In foreign countries, laws surrounding truck/busses either don't exist or aren't enforced. Of course, the transportation industry in these countries is competitive, and you'll probably come across a variety of vehicles that are more innovative than yours. Pool/Hot Tub This is the truck bed modification you have probably seen the most. After all, there aren't a lot of ways to beat the heat, and who doesn't enjoy a quick dip during a hot summer day? Fill that truck bed with a hose (leave it out in the sun so it will heat up), and you've created a mini pool or tub. However, understand that filling the bed with water will actually take its toll on your vehicle. While a tarp would seemingly protect all of your vehicle's essentials, filling your bed with water could cause significant damage to your truck. Water is very heavy, as each cubic foot weights around 62 pounds. You're going to be eyeing at least a ton of water in your tub, regardless of whether your truck bed has a maximum capacity of 30 cubic feet or 80 cubic feet. For example, bed liner brand DualLiner published a chart that displayed the estimated weight of a truck when the bed is filled with water. For a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, the water-filled truck would weight around 4,711 pounds. With five people sitting in the pool, your truck will weigh in around 5,500 pounds. Of course, it's important to understand how that weight affects the truck, so the folks at DualLiner tested whether a truck could operate with so much weight. Of the 24 tested trucks, the brand concluded that 96-percent couldn't function with a bed of water, and 67-percent couldn't run with half a bed of water. Those number are kind of flawed, however, as that really only matters for those looking to drive around with their pool (which seems rather illogical). Assuming your temporary tub will be stationary, a simple tarp should keep the body from rusting. The weight (as long as it's not excessive) shouldn't have much of an impact, although you may want to be aware of your tire pressure. You'll also have to consider the age and durability of your used truck, but no vehicle is better equipped to endure that weight than a pickup. Makeshift Tent If you enjoy camping, you'll realize that there are a variety of advantages to sleeping in your truck bed. It may be uncomfortable, but sleeping in the bed could help avoid some of camping's negative attributes, particularly crawling bugs, uneven ground, and scary animals. Of course, you won't be receiving much sleep if you're lying on a metal floor. You'll want to bring an appropriate sleeping bag, and make sure you're aware of the weather forecast. If you want to maximize your comfort, you can find an air mattress that fits right into the bed. Also, to protect yourself from any animals, make sure you lock the truck's gate. Many suggest throwing a ratchet strap on the gate and attaching it to some clamps. By utilizing this strategy, you'd surely be woken up by the intruder, allowing you some time to protect yourself. Storefront This is essentially what I did as a child (although my store specialized in imaginary food). Truck beds can be spacious and roomy, so turning the area into a business seems like an inexpensive and reasonable idea. There are various strategies for these truck bed business. Some prefer to put their entire selection of goods into bed. It may look a bit cluttered and unattractive, but it allows customers to quickly see what's on sale. This would also make for a relatively quick and easy set-up and clean-up. Some caterers have actually used their truck beds in similar fashions. You've probably seen vendors at fairs selling food out of their pickup, but others have even cleverly converted the space into a condiment bar. What's the point of carrying around a large table when you can simply utilize the space attached to your ride? These business owners have considerable room to stock up on drinks and ice, especially with the lockable storage areas that often flank a truck's bed. You can essentially put together your own mini food truck if you so desire! While it's relatively common to see goods sold out of the back of a pickup, there are several business owners who have taken the extra step. Several farmers used their truck bed as an area to harvest plants and produce. While the roots don't have a whole lot of room to spread out and flourish, you will have the exclusive luxury of giving your plants exactly what they need. If it's been dry in your area, you can consider driving them to a typically wet spot. If your truck's usual storage area is shaded, you can leave your truck in the sun for a couple of hours. Considering the opportunities you have to cater to your plants needs, transforming your bed into a garden is actually a clever idea. When you're looking to buy a used truck, you should consider using it for something other than driving. Some of the ideas above may compromise your truck's longevity, but when it comes down to it, you're essentially looking for some fun from your used purchase. You might as well take advantage of it.

It’s famed history and continued success stand out as a true American classic. more California Dreaming When you think of Malibu in the 1960’s, what comes to mind? Sunshine, surf and rock and roll, right? In 1964, Chevrolet had the right idea by introducing what was to be their critically acclaimed Malibu. Like its namesake city, it was fun, youthful and happening. Though the Chevy Malibu was a rear wheel drive vehicle, it offered 300 horsepower in a small block V8 and you wouldn’t have expected it, but the Malibu premiered as a small family sedan. For the times and especially for a family vehicle, it was quite audacious but no one could deny that it was certainly fun to drive. It was also wildly popular. Within its first year, it sold over 200,000 units! Malibu’s Muscle: Chevelle and SS With muscle cars everywhere in the mid to late 60’s, Chevy didn’t want to miss out and introduced the Chevelle and Malibu SS. Becoming legendary for their horsepower, the Malibu was also rising to become Chevy’s premium family sedan. In the Winners Circle The 1970’s Malibu belonged to Nascar. Offering a host of engine choices, from a big block 396 cubic inch V8 to a small block 350, these Malibu’s ended up in Nascar’s winner circle not once, not twice but 25 times. Chevy decided to discontinue the Malibu in 1983 but by the late 1990’s brought back this American classic. Coming In Hot In 1997, the Malibu returned as a brand new car. While it was gone, the American market for sedans had changed. New focuses on safety and image were emerging. During its absence, other sedans were taking its place but the new Malibu showed up and reclaimed its spot as the favorite. Malibu Wins Again! Chevrolet had a lot to be proud of in 1997 as the Malibu was awarded Motor Trend’s Car of the Year. There was no question whether bringing the Malibu back was the right choice. Offering improved technology and efficient performances that improved riding and handling, this new Malibu was up to date and ready for the new millennium. Receiving critical acclaim once again in 2008, the Malibu won the North American Car of the Year award. The 2008 model used a global platform with updates to its exterior including a brand new grill which would become the new face for Chevrolet, as well as two signature rounded tail lights. Malibu’s Moves Forward In 2009, Chevy introduced the Malibu Hybrid. Featuring advanced technology, it boasts a 2.4L ecotec with a 4 cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission. Offering other features like keyless entry, automatic climate control and satellite radio, Chevy was reaching a whole new audience. In 2010, the Malibu was GM’s top-selling passenger car at nearly 200,000 units sold. Producing for the global market for the first time in 2013, GM announced the Malibu Eco into the world market. Offering two different engines: a powerful 197 horsepower 2.5L 4-cylinder ecotec engine in a 6-speed automatic transmission and a second even more powerful option at 259 horsepower 2.0L Ecotec turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Both engines produce powerful performances and have excellent fuel economy. With all the successes that Chevrolet has encountered with the Malibu from 1964 and since its return to the stage in 1997, it is no wonder that it continues to grow, impress and win with car dealers, shows and audiences.

As a parent, one of the scariest moments is when you send your child off for their first independent drive. There's only so much you can do at that point, but you can at least do you best to protect your kid by pursuing a safe and dependable vehicle for them to drive. Before you head out to a Lexington, Kentucky car lot, see which used cars you should be targeting. Luckily, Benjamin Zhang over at Business Insider compiled his list of the best car's for first-time drivers. The writer prioritized the used price, the safety score, and the vehicle's performance and reliability. more 2001-2015 Honda Civic This vehicle is commended for its longevity and dependability, as Zhang claims the car can last for more than 250,000 miles without running into any issues. Furthermore, since the vehicle is relatively popular, it's not going to cost you an arm and a leg to acquire some replacement parts (considering they're common and readily available). Starting at $5,000, the Civic received a 'good' rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). If your kid isn't thrilled with the color or look, the writer notes that the "large aftermarket support" means you can customize the car for little cost. 1999-2006 Toyota Celica This car has everything a new driver would want: it's "quick, fun to drive, reliable, and offers a surprising level of utility." The driver can take advantage of the solid horsepower (140 to 180 based on the four-cylinder engine), and they'll appreciate the solid fuel economy. Meanwhile, parents will appreciate the price tag on the used car, which usually starts around $5,500. They'll also like the 'good' rating from the IIHS. Considering it's a sports car, Zhang warns that you should get a Celica checked out before making a purchase. You never know the kind of toll the previous owner may have put on the car. 1998-2004 Toyota Tacoma Young drivers certainly like their pickup trucks, especially since they can haul as much junk around as they want. If your kid is begging for a truck, the Tacoma is essentially the only reasonable used option, as it was the only pickup to make the Business Insider list. Coming in at $5,900, the vehicle received an 'acceptable' safety rating. Of course, parents won't have much to worry about, as the ruggedness and ability to off-road should keep the driver and passengers safe. 2005-2014 Ford Mustang You won't see too many first-time drivers behind the wheel of this muscle car, but the Ford Mustang is actually a logical choice. Starting at $6,000, the reliable and safe (received a 'good' rating) vehicle should certainly be considered when you're shopping for a used car. Of course, it doesn't hurt that your kid will absolutely love the vehicle. Featuring an "elegant package with styling that withstands the test of time," your child will be the talk of the school with their stylish ride. As you can see, there are a number of logical options when you're shopping for a first-time buyer. There were also a number of vehicles commended by Zhang that we didn't include! Regardless, you can be comfortable in knowing that your child will be safe if they're behind the wheel of one of these cars.

His rock anthems speak to everyone in urban dwellings in Detroit and super posh neighborhoods in Dallas. Recently, your Chevrolet car dealer has something to celebrate with Mr. Rock. You see, it was a Kid Rock song that was the inspiration for the new Chevy Silverado. more Complete with a waving Stars and Stripes featured on the sides of the truck and a very liberal use of chrome, this 3500 HD Silverado is the final outcome of what happens when you have Kid Rock fans designing for Chevrolet. The song: "Born Free". The pickup: Silverado’s full-size 3500 HD. The song, which celebrates freedom and honors American workers, is an homage to the blue-collar folk across this great land who work to keep the American dream alive. Can You Smell What This Rock is Cooking? After taking a visit to the Silverado HD assembly plant in Flint, Michigan, Kid went to meet with the guys who built the truck and who are also members of UAW Local 598, as well as huge Kid Rock fans. He wanted to meet with Chevy’s team of designers and builders before heading back to the design studio so that he could share in the customization of the ‘blue-collar’-inspired pickup. Says Mr. Rock, “ The Flint plant - and everyone on the line - is the backbone of America. I wanted the design for the truck to be bold, but with features and elements that wouldn’t be out of the reach for the working-class guys.” Clearly, the backbone of America as designed and put together by members of UAW Local 598 are also the inspiration for the patriotic motif. Sitting on 22-inch custom wheels, custom chrome grille, tinted windows, chrome assist steps, chrome exhaust pipes, a spray-in bed liner and black metallic-flecked paint, this full-size Silverado 3500 HD sounds big, sturdy and industrial. There are also “Born Free” logos and “Kid Rock” decals placed accordingly around the truck as reminders that his name is Kid. Roooooooooock. And as if the mere presence of the 3500 HD Silverado wasn’t intimidating enough, a giant blackened Chevy bowtie dons the front grill, ready for its closeup. Capturing the Kid Being that Kid Rock, as a recording artist, dabbles in rock, rap, and country, Chevy wanted the interior of the Silverado HD to reflect his expressive styles. Featuring a blackened instrument panel outlined in silver trim and a unique Sky Cool Gray leather-upholstered seats which have metallic-appearing inserts patterned after acid-wash jeans (what? like you’re too old to remember your acid wash jeans that you wore with your Def Leppard cut-off tee? Please.) In another attempt to emphasize Kid Rock’s personality, the Silverado comes equipped with a pair of Gibbs Sports Quadskis which convert from all-terrain vehicles to personal watercrafts enhancing your freedom to celebrate America by land or sea. None of this would be possible without proper trailering capabilities which with the Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel engine that boasts 397 horsepower and has a massive 795 lb/ft of torque can more than handle. “This truck is all about celebrating the people who build it and the freedom it enables.” concluded Kid Rock. His thoughts about visiting the plant, “ Visiting the Silverado factory was one of the coolest and most meaningful things I’ve done.”

Positive that they’ve produced the best electric hybrid available, the 2016 Volt is almost ready for its debut. Chevrolet car dealers are happy to report that the Volt is not just what we expected, but so much more. Entering its sophomore generation, Chevy is proud to announce the Volt is done with its growing pains. Having been fully redesigned and updated for the 2016 model year, Chevy has listened to every critique and improved everything from rearview mirrors to battery life and electric range. more So what has changed? Everything. The 2016 Volt went through a complete makeover. This new generation Volt has an edge and aggressive appeal. The exterior and interior have been made over in a sleek style with modern amenities that reflect a young, bold attitude. An updated hybrid drive system delivers 53 miles of pure electric energy. New transmission and battery capacity allows the 2016 Volt to travel a 420-mile range on a full charge and full tank of gas which translates to 1000 miles between filling your tank. That is a tremendous amount of savings you now have, thanks to your 2016 Chevy Volt. While the Volt hasn’t yet made its debut at your Chevrolet car dealer location, the anticipation grows and fans can hardly wait. Bigger Engine Just Got Better Chevy has proven that bigger is sometimes better. Adding to 2016 Volt is a slightly larger 1.5L SIDI engine. Being that the previous engine was a 1.4L and had issues with noise, vibration and harshness when operating under gas power, Chevy went with a slightly larger engine which gives the ability to produce the power it needs to run at lower engine speeds. This reduces the noise and vibration. Running on a new generation of engines that were designed to waste less energy, reducing the noise, it can also run on fuel which was a specific request by Volt drivers that Chevy addressed. Best-In-Class The 2016 Volt is more than an improvement from the models of years past but also in comparison with other hybrids currently on the market. Now offering better handling than both the Ford Fusion and the Toyota Prius combined, the updated 2016 Volt gets to 60mph in 8.4 seconds which is faster than the Toyota Prius. While it’s immediately more sporty in appearance than others in its class, reviews say it’s also more fun to drive. After dropping 100 extra pounds from last years' model, it has become lighter with a sportier feel. The lost weight produces a more aggressive throttle that delivers more power leading to a quicker performance. There is no doubt that the 2016 Volt is the best contender in the hybrid segment. Winning Range The 2016 Chevy Volt will be delivering a wider range of miles on both electric and gas power. Chevy promised improvements with mileage and they over delivered. This means that the Volt will be able to travel 53 miles on electric battery alone before it needs to go to the fuel tank for reserves. The Battery Life Let me break this down for you. Every time you get in your 2016 Volt, it will be powered by an electric battery. Should you never need to travel more than 53 miles in single trips, you’ll never been needing to use the gas reserves. How many trips to and from your work is that? Think of how much money you will save by running on 53 miles of electric energy. What will you ever do with your savings? Well, I’m sure you can think of something! Your fully charged battery will get 106 mpge (miles per gallon equivalent). Once the electric power is used up, the gas engine works together with the electric drive system to produce still a more efficient fuel economy. So, even when it’s necessary to use the fuel reserves, you will run on an efficient engine. What’s Your Range? The range on the gasoline-fueled engine gets an EPA combined rating of 42 miles. A shutter system is located behind the front grill that automatically closes at highway speeds to reduce drag In an attempt to modernize the interior without minimizing the need for comfort, softer materials, and more spacious seating make it more livable for all family members. A cleaned up center stack is a vast improvement as are the simple knobs and buttons to designate climate control, as well as heated front, passenger, and rear seats. An 8” screen displays the infotainment and Apple’s CarPlay, a first for GM, which when connected to an iPhone allows for hands-free and eyes free texting messaging through the use of Siri. All this adds up to a 40% improvement over last years model.

Even those five years didn't see a tremendous amount of changes, these small sedans did see some redesigns and necessary updates. Changes in style, fuel economy and electric range, the most important changes were those in safety features. These cars reflect the best of these changes. Let’s start by looking at the small sedans in the $10-15,000 range. Toyota Prius (2010-2013) As the original and iconic hybrid, the Prius as always proved that you don’t need to compromise space or comfort to get amazing gas mileage. Honda Civic (2013-14) The 2013 Civic put itself back on the map with this newly redesigned and refreshed model. Having been the recipient of a sportier look in response to its previous models, this year offered a wide variety of powertrain options to match its new style. Powerful, comfortable and composed, drivers and passenger alike fell for Honda all over again with its sleek design and updated amenities. It’s fuel economy is normal for its class at 28 mpg city and 39 mpg highway. What sells it best is its driving impressions. Easily one the best drive in this category, the handling is reassuring while the updated suspension and steering are now more appealing.  Honda put itself back on top with the 2013 Civic.

As Jonathan Welsh of Today.com notes, that number of cars in the report has grown by more than 50 percent in just one year. The writer believes this is an indication that a wider range of vehicles now contain some necessary safety features. As Welsh writes, the Insurance Institute had traditionally suggested "large, slow and unglamorous older sedans as the first cars for newly licensed young drivers." Even then, the recommended cars are on the more expensive side of the used car market, and some of the vehicles may not be realistic for those seeking a bargain. However, to appeal to those who can dish out a lot of money, the IIHS divided their list into two tiers: their "best choices," which are priced under $20,000 and received good ratings from the Institute, and their "good choices," which cost less than $10,000 but received "less-than-perfect ratings." "The prices for most of the vehicles we recommend for young, novice drivers are still higher than what a lot of people are used to spending," said Anne McCartt, the IIHS senior vice president for research. "We would encourage parents to consider paying a little more for safety if they can." Furthermore, the organization suggests keeping three guidelines in mind when shopping for a teen's first vehicle (via Welsh): "avoid high-horsepower models; large, heavier vehicles are safer than small, light ones; and electronic stability control is a must." Among the leaders for each class was the Volvo S80 (large cars), Volkswagen Jetta sedan and wagon (midsize cars), Honda Element (Small SUVs), Volvo XC90 (midsize SUVs), Chevrolet Traverse (Large SUVs), Dodge Grand Caravan (minivans), and Toyota Tundra crew cab (pickups). The cheapest models on the list were the XC90 ($4,600), Jetta ($5,600) and S80 ($5,800). Leaders among the "good choices" were the Hyundai Azera (large cars), Saab 9-5 sedan and wagon (midsize cars), Suzuki Grand Vitara (small SUVs), Suzuki XL7 (midsize SUVs), Saturn Outlook (large SUVs), Kia Sedona (minivans), and Honda Ridgeline (pickups). A lot of attention has been paid to new vehicles offering diesel engine options lately. Unfortunately, a lot of that attention has been negative, after Volkswagen's recent diesel emissions scandal. This latest Cruze model is set to join the lineup for the 2017 model year, and is expected to build upon the high performance of the current Cruze Diesel model from Chevrolet. Speculation and hype has been building around the newest Cruze Turbo Diesel model, and Reuss played into that hype by announcing that, "The Cruze Diesel is too good not to do it." It is just a matter of time, and a little patience on our part, until the all new 2017 Cruze Turbo Diesel arrives at Chevrolet dealers across the nation. Diesel Engines for Cadillac Cadillac, another automotive brand underneath the General Motors umbrella, is also expected to release upcoming diesel models. Reuss confirmed in his press conference that GM is definitely moving forward with the development of the diesel engines for Cadillac, and expects zero delays in their efforts. Cadillac is looking to bring four and six-cylinder turbo diesels to market, mainly across Europe in the coming years.
